Mind Pacifiers
Have you ever said to yourself before, “Why did I just think that?” Do you ever realize that sometimes the things you think about are completely unrelated to the topic or situation you are currently apart of? Or have you ever experienced an uncomfortable or devastating situation that causes you to replay again over and over just because it had upset you?
Does this ever annoy you? Make you feel like crap and then all the energy you display becomes negative?
Well, there is a good way to fix this problem, and all that it is, is in fact mind pacifying activities.
Put yourself in something. Do something active, distracting, whatever it is you like to do, or still need to get done. This can be as simple as putting away laundry, playing a video game, going out with a friend or listening to music.
Focusing on what you are currently doing in the moment can make all the difference in the world.
Feel your senses in that moment, remember to breathe, and stay completely engaged in whatever activity you choose to do.
This is also the beginning of meditation as Alan Watt’s puts it. “We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. “This is the real secret of life -- to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. “The meaning of life is just to be alive.” -Alan Watts.
All we can ever do, is to be our best self in the present moment. In those instances, we tend to stop thinking about random or negative things and become fully engaged with our current activity. This is called a mind pacifier. A good distraction to bring us back to reality. A real experience in life.
