My favorite character is Niki Nihachu from the Dream SMP. I mainly post about her. I’m always up for a chat about Niki, so please never be afraid to send me asks about her or to strike up a conversation about her!

I’m not a yandere, and I highly doubt most people who self-identify as one are either. If I had to choose a dere to call myself, I’d say I’m more “similar” to a yangire or himedere. It’s not like I or anyone else actually matches any of those archetypes completely though, obviously.

Part 1: Personal opinions

Honestly?

I don’t think she’s a bad musician. At no point while listening to her music did I ever think “oh this part noticeably stands out” or “this is hard to listen to.” The lyrics can evidently use a bit of work, but overall I think they’re fairly solid. Understandable, at the very least.

I have tried to listen to everything she’s put out (especially the more recent stuff because that’s a better assessment of her skill) and they’re all…fine I suppose.

Unfortunately if there’s one thing I dislike the most, it’s that she does suffer from having a bit of a bland sound, to the point that if I didn’t know it was cc!Niki singing specifically then I probably wouldn’t even listen.

Of all her most recent songs, I like ‘Strung Along’ the most. ‘Haunted’ was a bit too blatant in its dependence on cliches for me, even though I think the chorus has a catchier sound to it than ‘Strung Along’ does. I do often get them mixed up when replaying the lyrics in my head though, due to how similar the two songs are.

And all together that leads us with:

— An 81.39% decrease in viewership on YouTube.

— A 69.12% decrease in viewership on the music videos.

— A 77.55% decrease in viewership on Spotify.

Part 3: Going forward

With her current amount of followers, and the fact that her promotional content was CLEARLY seen by many of them, I think this does raise some questions about how successful her actual music career is going to be. Obviously, since we only have those songs to go off of things could very much change going forward.

But I think it is also important to not just blatantly ignore the vast amount of people who listened to the first song out of curiosity, didn’t find it that interesting, and chose to not check out the next.

From her insta I know that she’s been leaning more into screaming, which could add some edge to her song and might help her form her own “niche” so to say. This post isn’t meant to be doom and gloom.
