So youāre kinda amnesic? Well, that makes you at least twenty percent more interesting.
Yeah, I guess so. Does it? Why's that?
Alek nodded mechanically. āYou may. Most do, but some are just more so well rounded then others.ā He supplied, thinking about his sister. Alek watched intuitively, feeling the spark emanate from Emilia, and spread through the cup in front of them. He gave her a grin as she reacted to the now melted cup of water.Ā
"That was fantastic." He stated. "You have successfully controlled an element." Alek was not overly surprised, it sounded like she was a formidable witch although she was unable to remember what had become of her before her car accident.Ā
Emilia nodded. She sort of wished she knew what type of witch she was before the accident-- whether she was any good or had any areas she was particularly good at, and things like that-- but there was also something exciting about getting to discover all that as she went along now.Ā "Thank you," she replied. She was pleased with herself but, not letting herself get too cocky, she added, "Now three more to go..."Ā
Poison & Wine || Sebastian & Emilia
Sebastian let out a sigh, āThatās quite the story. Iām sorry that you had to go through that.ā Sebastian gave the girl a glance out of the corner of his eye, he wasnāt sure what to think of her, but someone who lost their memories couldnāt be invested too much in this town and therefore would probably give more information easily. The vampire waited a moment as he considered what to say next. āAnd has there been any explanations yet? I read a bit about them online when I found out where I was moving but all the answers I got were really vague.ā Sebastian obviously knew in his gut that the disappearances were caused by supernaturals who were being careless and sloppy, but he didnāt know yet if this girl was aware of supernaturals or not. He nodded politely as she started in the correct direction and followed after her, āWell thatās good. Itās nice to have someone to walk with. Itās been a while since Iāve had a friendly conversation like this.āĀ
Emilia shrugged. "It happens. I'm just trying to move past it and not get too hung up on it," she commented, fidgeting a bit by adjusting the strap of her purse on her shoulder. She didn't mind talking about what had happened, but she also didn't want people to think that she was using what had happened to garner sympathy. Emilia didn't want to be treated any differently than anyone else. "Not really. As far as I can tell, all the answers they've come up with are kinda vague," the witch replied, "There are lots of theories." It wasn't a complete lie. After all, the humans in town had no idea what was happening-- and even the supernaturals weren't entirely sure-- but Emilia was sure she wasn't the only one in town who would guess everything going on had to do with the sheer quantity of supernaturals there were here. She smiled, glancing at him. "Really? Why-- no friends where you came from?" she questioned, "Actually, I don't think I asked-- where're you moving here from?" She was attempting to guide the conversation away from the topic of the supernatural. She didn't know whether Sebastian knew about the supernatural or was one himself, but she didn't intend to be the one to reveal that world to him if he wasn't already aware of it.
Poison & Wine || Sebastian & Emilia
Sebastian raised his eyebrow, āI feel like thereās a story there?ā But he wasnāt going to belabor the point, sheād talk if she wanted to. Sebastian scratched the back of his head as they walked, nearing the end of their first street. āYeah I guess it is, the more new people, the less awkward it is when Iām not the only one who doesnāt know where they are going.ā He looked over at her, raising his eyebrow again, āBut then againā¦all these disappearances, thatās a little strange.ā Sebastian wondered how much this girl knew if she grew up here, but considered herself a newcomer.
The two of them had reached the end of the street and Sebastian cleared his throat, āSo which way now?ā He chuckled slightly, āI hope Iām not actually keeping you from anything.ā
"There is," Emilia replied with a nod and a quick glance his way as she explained, "I was in an accident a few months ago, and I lost all my memory. I'm still learning all there is to know about this town just as much as many of the newcomers." The witch nodded as Sebastian mentioned the disappearances. "I've heard about those," she replied, a slight frown on her face, "Yeah, they are pretty strange." Emilia was certain that the disappearances probably had something to do with all the supernatural beings in town, but of course she was not going to tell him that.Ā "This way," she replied, continuing to lead the way, and smiling at him at his next comment, "Oh no, no worries-- I don't mind."

"Did you grow up here? Or are you a newcomer as well?" He kept an even pace as she fell in beside him. Sebastian smiled, "Nice to meet you as well, Emilia." Shrugging he continued, "I needed a change of pace and this seemed like the perfect place, but then I got here a found out that everyone else was moving here too, or so it seems."Ā
"I grew up here," Emilia replied, adding, "But I may as well be a newcomer." She knew he would likely question how one could grow up in a place and still be a newcomer, and she had nothing against sharing the story of what had happened to her with others, but it seemed like a bit of a downer to her. Emilia nodded, "Yeah, I've heard there are a lot of newcomers in town. I guess that's a good thing, though, right?"Ā
Alek glanced down at the water, admiring its icy sheen. āYou have a point. Elemental magic has always been my niche. My sister has her niche as well.ā Alek answered mechanically, ignoring the bitter taste at the admission. He loved his sister, but could hardly control the envy he felt towards her prowess for magic. āNow,ā He started by focusing back in on her. āit is your turn. Defrost this water.ā Alek requested with a gesture to the cup. āIt is a lot easier to warm things up, since we are naturally warm beings. Focus on something that makes you warm, that gives youĀ life and raises you up. Then channel it into the water.ā Alek finished, his eyes falling back to hers.
Emilia nodded. "Does that mean I have my own niche, too?" she questioned, wondering what hers might be. She had so far been relatively successful in charms and smaller spells, usually helping the vampires in town, but she wondered if perhaps she had her own specialty when it came to magic. Emilia furrowed her eyebrows as he instructed her to defrost the water, unsure how to go about doing that. His suggestion to focus on something that makes her warm was certainly helpful. She immediately knew to focus on her faith-- which was the single strongest driving force in her life at the moment-- placing a finger against the ice. It took a moment, but she soon felt the ice slowly but surely begin to melt. Emilia grinned up at him, pleased at this initial sign of success.
Well hear, hear to new beginnings.Ā You could say that about my life and this town.Ā
Want to tell me whatās first on your list of new beginnings?
Really? Why's that?
Hm... I don't know, really. I guess try to figure out who I am? Maybe enroll in some classes or get a job?
You a newcomer as well?
Not really. I've lived in town my whole life, but a few months ago I was in an accident which caused me to lose all of my memory... so it's honestly as though I were a newcomer.
Um, I was raised to be religious, but I, uh, donāt do anything with it nowā¦
Oh, that's okay-- I was just going to recommend the church I go to in town if you were interested, but it's fine if you're not.

"Yeah thatād be great! Itās always hard when you come to a new place. But itās nice to meet some friendly people. Whatās your name? Iām Sebastian. Sebastian Pietro."Ā
"Trust me, I know the feeling. And there are a lot of friendly people in town, in my experience, so you've come to the right place," she smiled, starting to walk alongside him in the direction of the City Hall, as she added, "Nice to meet you, Sebastian-- I'm Emilia... So, what brings you to town?"
"Oh thank you - at least Iām not too far off track I suppose. What should I do next after that left turn?"Ā
"No problem. You'd then make a left at the next street, then a right, then another... Actually, it's kinda complicated. If you'd like, I could just show you the way-- I'm headed to a store near there, anyways."
"Is this the way to City Hall? I have to pay my bills and I just moved here."
"Not quite-- you were on the right track, but you were supposed to make a left back at that last street you just passed."
With a shrug Alek looked at her. She had not actually been wasting his time, considering that his grandmother had directed him to her specifically and expected him to stay. āYou are not wasting my time, you seem to be getting it. Elemental magic is a bit harder to grasp for some.ā He shrugged slightly as he looked around the coffee shop. It had proven to be another slow day, which made it easy to practice without anyone seeing. āHere.ā He stated as Ā he stood and walked behind the counter, coming back shortly with a clear class bowl full of water.
"Water is easiest to manipulate. The hardest is earth, which is ironic." He smiled at his own joke as he placed the bowl of water in front of them. He looked up at Emilia with a soft smile. "Water isā¦soft. I guess that is the simplest way to word it. But with enough concentration you can bring it to do a great deal of things." Alek added as he brought his finger down to touch the surface of the liquid. The glasses sides began to frost up as ice crystals spiraled out from his finger. From one second to the next the liquid became a solid.
Emilia gave him a tight-lipped smile as he explained that elemental magic was just difficult for some people. "Yeah, well, clearly I'm one of those who has difficulty with it," she sighed, watching as he walked over behind the counter and brought back a bowl of water with him. "What's that for?" she questioned, returning the smile as he gave his explanation about water being easier to control. She stared at the water as it became ice, a look of fascination on her face. "That's no fair," she replied, glancing back up at him, "You make it look way easier than it actually is."
Isnāt there usually like some big reason as to why girls cut their hair? Like some end of an era thing? Or have I been watching the wrong movies all my life?
Sometimes there is, and other times it's just 'cause they feel like it... Although, the more I think about it, the more I think you're right-- I guess this is sort of part of a new beginning thing for me.

Alek chuckled at the womanās expression. Her confusion was evident on his face, but it was warranted. Emilia had made her way into the towns supernatural grapevine. A witch with no memory became an easy target for those who held grudges. āIt is very confusing, but you have to get it.ā Alek exclaimed, a tinge of worry in his voice. āWant me to start from the top?ā
Emilia sighed, brushing a hand through her hair and pursing her lips as she tried to decide whether to make him explain himself yet again. She'd relearned quite a bit of magic since the accident, but some of it was just really complicated and confusing to her. She didn't like bothering other people, but it was just one of those things she couldn't teach herself. "Yeah, I guess-- though I hate wasting your time like this," she agreed to him starting over, giving him an apologetic look.
That does seem very strange⦠I admire you faith, though.
Thanks. This might be a bit of a personal question, but are you at all religious?
