Me: It’s bad to worship and promote empty corporate gestures toward minority communities. corporations should be supporting these groups in tangible ways through monetary donations and partnerships.
Also me, a bisexual, when Starbucks has a rainbow cup for upcoming pride month: hnnnnnnnng gay. must have.
I’ve always had a complicated relationship with the corporate pride thing. On one hand, yes I hate unregulated corporate capitalism. I know these companies are just trying to make money. But on the other hand?
If 12 year old me had seen gayness being so normal that jcpenny was selling pride merch? I think he would’ve cried with joy. As is I still can’t believe that in just a decade gay pride has become so mainstream that we’re seen as a market? That being an ally is so mainstream that it’s actually difficult to avoid companies that don’t support gay rights? It still blows my mind.
Also hhnnng gay must have.
