an idea had suddenly occurred to her, one she wasn’t sure that eloise had already thought of before. as though her idea was brilliant enough to be overheard and taken, the credit given to someone else who didn’t even come up with the thought, rapunzel leaned in closer as though to tell a secret. which, she supposed this was a secret, of some sort. “perhaps creating your own little lady whistledown yourself. not a gossip column, of course, but writing under the rouse of someone capable of easily making such change.” she didn’t need to say the words ‘write under the rouse of being a man’, because that much was obvious. but eloise was a talented writer, and passionate. she wouldn’t be surprised if her work became a success. “at the very least it will get the idea swirling around in the heads of everyone who reads it.”
write her own column. that seemed...logical. eloise paused, allowing the idea to wash over her, considering what she could actually do with that. she wouldn’t want to write gossip, but she certainly had plenty to say. still, how could she make anyone read it? people were interested in gossip, hence the success of whistledown...though if she, like many others she was sure, used a man as a pen name, perhaps she would go further simply by trying. she hardly knew where to begin, but it wasn’t a bad idea. far from it. “do you truly think that would work? would anyone read it? whistledown is successful because people want to hear about who is doing what. who is to say they’d read anything else?”
