scaryjrâ   /   theresa marlowe.
scaryâs   mouth   clamps   shut,           the  panic  rising  in  her  chest.  proud  of  it       -      the  other  thought  scary  was    proud   of  the  killings.    proud   of  ruining  margaritaâs  life,  of  hurting  her  friends.  she  didnât    regret   it,   not  one  bit,  but  proud  was  not  something  she  would  have  said  she  felt.  it  needed  to  be  done,  there  was  no  other  way  to  save  the  world,  and  if  anything  scary  felt    sad   that  that  was  what  had  to  happen.  she  chews  her  lower  lip,  offering  a  shrug  in  place  of  an  answer.      â      maybe.    whatever.      â
it was typical of a teenager to offer such a blunt answer, two words and that was it. daisy had been the same when she was that age, always such a gobby cow until it came down to situations like this, when sheâd much rather roll her eyes, fold her arms over her chest, and mutter a few words. she didnât know much about this kid as of yet, but she could see a bit of herself in her, in a way. sheâd been messed up at that age, no thanks to the death of her little brother. âis that really all youâve gotta say about it? âmaybe, whateverâ? blimey, love. not very feelinâ, are ya?â
bannannieâ   /   annie marks.
annie couldnât help the quiet laugh that bubbled within her. âfootie.â she repeated with her best effort at mimicking the others accent ââ not maliciously of course, but rather just because. âitâs soccer, right?â even she could figure that one out, the vast differences between each version of football something sheâd realised after one night in a local pub, and she didnât even like sport that much. âjeez, look at that.â eyes widened as she looked at the ring, hands reaching for daisyâs to hold it still while she took a proper good look at it. âheâs gotta really love you.â stating the obvious perhaps, but with one divorce under her belt it was an important thing to recognise. not that she and greg hadnât loved one another, they had ââ but forced into a wedding as teenagers after accidentally getting pregnant didnât exactly scream happily ever after. âyou already got plans? a date?â for someone who hadnât enjoyed her own wedding planning, she was always much more excited by others. âa dress?â
âright, yeah. soccer. sounds proper weird that does, never understood why you didnât call it football," she admitted. she wasnât the biggest fan of sports, though, wasnât that bothered about the difference in what it was called. it was mainly just conversational, something to say in response...but the mention of the wedding quickly distracted her, as it often did. that was her priority, it was something she loved talking about, no matter who it was with. annie seemed interested, anyway, which was more than she could say for a lot of people, who only seemed to humour her. â8th of may, this gorgeous venue called charlesworth hall. it was my dream, we got proper lucky, managed to snag a date this year. got pretty much everything planned out in me head! slowly working on getting it all ready, yâknow? iâve been usinâ a lot of my influencer connections to bag free stuff. ice sculptures, fireworks, and iâm wearing a dress from this gorgeous boutique for free. itâs gorgeous. yâwanna see? i took loads of pictures.â

âI know I donât have to. But the more people you have looking out for you, the less you will need the police to help you. And as you say, they arenât exactly doing that now.â Ciaran told her. âThat and if this person ended up following you, he wouldnât dare do it if I was around.â
Daisy was genuinely grateful for everyone in her life who was willing to look out for her, who was willing to defend her against Justin. It meant even more coming from him, given that he wasnât part of the family; he didnât have to say it. âTa, Ciaran. I do appreciate that. Iâm hoping thisâll all be over soon.â
stitchfastenedâ   /   karli demir.
karli let out a huff of air, this all sounded like some bit stitch up. if she bought into the idea of conspiracies, she might have thought that perhaps one of her rivals had interfered with her itinerary, changing her route, getting her far away from the competition to better their own chances, with her practice time was being eaten into while she figured out where she was meant to be. âi think i need the help.â it wasnât like she could figure out where she was on her own, and having someone who knew the area could only work in her favour. âas long as you donât mind, of course.â sheâd figure out a way to thank her another time if she actually managed to get where she needed to be. âlead the way, i guess.â she shrugged, suitcase wobbling behind her on the cobbles.
ââcourse i donât. my stepmum owns the boozer, sheâs used to me just scrollinâ me socials or filing my nails,â she admitted. at least if she was helping someone out, she had a genuine reason, and jenny couldnât tell her to get in with cleaning the bogs or carrying the crates of wine up from the cellar. thereâd be hardly any customers, so that wasnât something she needed to worry much about. leading the way to the roverâs, she held the door open for karli, given that she had the suitcase. âwhere you from then? nowhere âround here, clearly.â

Ciaran listened and then grabbed some paper and wrote something down on it. He handed it to her. âThere is my number. If the others arenât aroundâŚor even if they are, and something is worrying youâŚcall me.â He said. Ciaran didnât want something to happen to her because the police wouldnât do anything until it was too late.
Watching him with furrowed brows, Daisy hesitated, letting out a shaky breath when he made the offer. It seemed everyone was looking out for her; sheâd been made to feel like a proper part of the Barlow family. âOh. Ta. You really donât have tâ do that, yâknow. Itâs not your responsibility to make up for incompetent coppers.âÂ

xchxsingcxrsxâ   /   ciaran mccarthy.
Ciaran listened. He hated when things happened like that. Things could be happening to someone and because no crime had happened, they wouldnât do anything about it. âIt shouldnât be that way. In person or on social media.â He told her.
In a way, it helped to her someone say that, to have someone assure her that this was messed up and her feelings were valid, who wasnât a member of the family. Jenny and all of Danielâs family had been watching over her like a bunch of hawks, but that was only to be expected. âYou donât need to tell me that. I just wish I could get people to listen. Theyâre not going to listen âtil itâs too late.â

âOkay. So I guess she wouldnât have done that if she had known. But being her, maybe she still would have.â He said, knowing Tracy would have something to say about that if she knew he had said that. âHave they done something about it now?â Ciaran asked.
âNope,â she replied, popping the âpâ for emphasis. It was starting to seem like they werenât going to, either. âAs far as theyâre concerned, no crime has been committed. He hasnât laid a finger on me. Just, yâknow, made me scared of leaving the house, of being alone with men I donât know, of posting on social media...but thatâs nothinâ, as far as everyone else is concerned.â

Ciaran noticed her looking towards Bertie and wondered where this was going. He didnât have anything against influencers. Some of the people he had got to know while on the cruise ships were influencers. He found it interesting rather than not getting it at all. âMmm, that sounds like something she would do. Although she should have known better, or didnât she know about this guy?â
âNot at the time,â Daisy admitted, bringing her thumb up to her mouth to nibble on the end of the nail. Manicure be damned, it was one of the many nervous habits sheâd picked up since the messages started. âI only told Daniel and Jenny at first. Then it started getting worse. Making new accounts so he could message me every time he got blocked, gettinâ a job in the street so he could see me. The police wonât do owt about it, so â yeah. Everyone knows now. Seeing as I need a constant babysitter.â
xchxsingcxrsxâ   /   ciaran mccarthy.
Ciaran nodded. âYou could say that.â He said. âDonât tell her I said that though. I promise I wonât tell her, if you donât tell her that I agreed with you.â Ciaran told her. Of course, she was right about Steve and Amy. Hearing what she said about the flowers, Ciaran looked at her in surprise. âWhat? Why?â He asked.
The question caused her to shift on the spot, glancing down at Bertie, but he seemed to be content in his own little world. âBit of a long story. Iâm an influencer, right ââ she didnât pause, didnât need to know his thoughts on that. Most people didnât seem to get it. â â anâ Iâve been tryinâ to get free stuff for the wedding. Figured seeing as she was family she might give us some free flowers â the funeral flowers were sâposed to be her idea of a joke, the only free flowers I was getting out of her. Might have been funny if I didnât think they were from the bloke whoâs been harassing me for weeks.â

Ciaran nodded as she said this. âI agree. I mean I wouldnât say I was part of the family but I am close to them as I am best friends with Peter.â He told her. âAs for Tracy. She isnât someone that makes it easy to get along with. I guess it depends on who you are.â He said. âThat is impressive.â
âSheâs an â acquired taste, int she? Iâd say she was like marmite, but I donât think anyone loves her...â Daisy trailed off, nose scrunching up. Bit harsh, maybe, but it was a fair assessment. ââcept Steve and Amy, I suppose. And Iâm allowed to say that, âcause sheâs family â but if you tell her, I will deny all knowledge. I dread to think what sheâd do next. She already sent me funeral flowers. Cheeky cow, she is.â
xchxsingcxrsxâ   /   ciaran mccarthy.
He couldnât help but laugh as she said this. âIt could happen.â He told her. Ciaran looked at Daisy as she said this. âI donât think I am in his bad books. But if I said what you said about him, he would think it came from me even if I said it wasnât.â Ciaran smiled and then listened to what she was saying. âI think that proves that he does.â
It was nice, really, feeling accepted by Ken. She hadnât exactly envisioned when sheâd first moved to Weatherfield that sheâd wind up as one of the Barlows, but she didnât hate the idea by any means. Tracy wasnât exactly her dream sister-in-law, but that was only because they were both hotheaded and stubborn as mules. âNot a bad family to be accepted into, really. I mean â living under the same roof as Tracy Barlow definitely wasnât the dream, but we havenât killed each other yet, so Iâd call that impressive.â
