I've read few loopzoop fics now, and I haven't really encountered a dynamic that...clicks, ya know. That feels just right. I usually find a fic or fics that have that dynamic that's just right, hopefully I'll find it here too

There's this one fic that feels like it could get close, but I haven't been able to finish it. It's just very wordy, in a way I don't really like. Too much unnecessary description of things that don't matter, imo. I understand wanting to paint a picture but there's a point where it becomes too much

But I'll give it another shot, I won't give up the search for the just right dynamic!

Tfw you watch something because you like how grounded and realistic it is. Then suddenly there's aliens and now you're not mad, just disappointed

#not gonna tell you what this is about 'cos spoilers #but i imagine it can be accurate with a lot of things

I'm a huge slut for AUs, and I thus far haven't encountered any during my brief and shallow dips into the loopzoop fics, so I came up with one

Imagine, if you will, a world where Lupin didn't end up becoming a thief. Nah, instead he's a private investigator. Still sometimes doing stumbles into the wrong side of the law when it comes in the way of him solving a case, because morals are meant to be gray, amirite?

And imagine, if you will, a Zenigata who still became an inspector, and he's trying to solve a murder case. But the progress is slow, and the family of the victim becomes frustrated, so they hire a PI. One that's well known for a long record of solved cases. And he's a younger guy who's infuriating but weirdly handsome.

And so, the two enter a race of sorts for who will solve this murder first. And during it they start to slowly work together, then become friends, then...something more, maybaps?

What do y'all think? Yay or nay? This idea tickles me, personally, since I can imagine Lupin as an independent private investigator mostly on the right side of the law, but he thinks of it as a game and a fun challenge, so he also doesn't care if he sometimes breaks the law. Morally gray and chaotic good/neutral Lupin is best Lupin

The thing with Lupin and Zenigata is, that they can't really have a traditional happily ever after that I usually crave in couples I ship. Or at least I find it hard to imagine for them, because it would go strongly against their personalities and values

Lupin wouldn't stop being a thief, he'll continue being one until he literally can't do it anymore because he's too old or too dead. And Zenigata wouldn't stop trying to catch him for as long as Lupin continues being a thief, because Zenigata wouldn't stop being a cop for as long as he's too old or too dead

So, they can't really have a traditional happy ending where they're just...together, in domestic bliss. And I love that shit, especially if it's reached after a shit ton of angst. I haven't yet found a fic that's tried to give them this kind of happy ending, but I haven't read many loopzoop fics yet. I'm interested to see how people have tried to make it happen, and if my brain will accept it as possible. Because currently it doesn't seem to be able to picture it without it feeling really unnatural
