When equipped, it provides no stat benefit, but on a hit, the user can deal extra points of damage in exchange for taking that amount of damage themselves. Devil’s Curse Price: 4,000G - Quantity Remaining [4/5] Despite labeling it properly, Gelwein has neglected to list a description of what the potion does. It is a standard Devil’s Curse potion, but if asked what it does, he will simply state that it is a potion that can be used to give someone a bad day. Or, if the buyer is overly cheerful, that it can be used to see life from a different perspective.

Sleeping Beauty Charm  Price: 900G - Quantity Remaining [5/5] The description on the charm says that if you put it under your pillow, it will help you to sleep. Should you do so, with each passing day, the charm will make you more and more tired. You will also begin to forget about the charm after about a week. After a month or two, you will not notice it unless it is specifically pointed out to you. If the charm is not removed, after a year, it could make a person unable to wake up. At this point, they will need to be brought to a church.

Cut Blood Rose Price: 1,200G - Quantity Remaining [5/5] A pure white rose with a red stem, put in a tiny clear vase. It’s just like any other cut rose, except that if you contaminate the water it with a drop of blood, the petals will turn the blood-donor’s favorite color.

E.6.L Bag of Holding Price: 3,000G - Quantity Remaining [5/5] A bag with void magic cast on it. As long as it can fit into the mouth of the bag (a 6 inch circle at the widest), this bag can fit practically any amount of objects of any length inside of it. To pull an object out of the bag, all you have to do is stick your hand into it, and think of what you wish to pull out.

Hopefully, it doesn’t get lost in there.

It took some guts to approach the booth, as the intimidating man tending to it, paired with the variety of strange items being sold, made Candace worry that she might get some kind of curse if she touched anything.

But the rose seemed harmless--and very pretty--and so she timidly set the money on the table.

Fall was a favorite time for Candace, calm and breezy and a perfect temperature for the majority of her wardrobe. It only seemed right to go out and celebrate it, even if she suspected she would stick to the walls and nibble at snacks, like in most events...

Regardless, she enjoyed her outfit: a very Candace-like collared dress with simple black leggings. Small, white floral pins were scattered through her thick, braided hair, and she’d dusted off some old boots, too.

Things change.

Time passes, and no matter how you struggle, you either go with its flow or drown in the current. Candace had hammered this idea into her head over and over, as she had always been the type to struggle, to stand steadfast against change and avoid it at all costs. But it was a reality of life, one that made itself abundantly, painfully clear when her sister, the biggest constant in her life, announced that she had to leave Arcadia.

Candace never faulted her for it. She hardly faulted Luna for anything, but certainly not choosing to follow what fulfilled her. She almost envied her for it.

But when she’d heard the news that her sister was to return, that hole in her heart ached with the anticipation of being full again.

Today was the day. She’d been restless all morning, but seeing the boat approach set the timid girl’s heart pounding, a wavering smile curving her lips. She felt almost oddly nervous...

With a little luck, hopefully summer was on its way out...

As a somewhat gifted but painfully inexperienced alchemist, Candace had decided that now would be a good time to collect herbs from Fugue Forest. Maybe she could make them into a poultice or ointment if needed... or if that was a bust, they were always useful for homemade dyes.

The forest was fairly barren, aside from sprouts that she didn’t want to pluck yet... Letting out a soft sigh, the seamstress straightened up from where she crouched over a cluster of young herbs, brow creased gently.

She swiped her hand over her forehead, skin hot against her fingers. Summer could get so unbearable... Especially since she had no summer clothes.

A stick cracked behind her, and the woman flinched. She swung around, and her breath caught in her throat like a rock.

There, among the trees, was a dragon.

“R-Really?” Violet looked surprised, blinking a moment and smiling very appreciatively, “I-I would r-really appreciate it…” She could at least get closer to home under the umbrella, rather than being stuck so far away. Or if she happened to pass by where Violet lived, then Violet could even get home this way! Violet timidly walked towards the woman until she was underneath the umbrella. While they would need to stand close together, it was enough to cover them both.  “T-Thank you very much…” Violet spoke, smiling again, “U-Um…I-I’m Violet. W-What’s your name…?”

When the young woman moved to share the umbrella with her, Candace smiled back at her, gently but with her own appreciation. She was grateful to be able to help, and she felt a bit of kinship to the other. Quiet and alone... and timid. Though seemingly even more timid than Candace herself was, based on the stammering.

“You’re welcome,” she spoke softly, pleasantly, and once the other woman, Violet, was under the umbrella with her, she began to walk again, slowly.

“My name is Candace,” she answered mildly. She didn’t know much about Violet, but she liked her. It was nice to be around someone as shy as herself. “It’s nice to meet you... Violet.” Candace paused, then chuckled a little. “...That’s a pretty name.”

In the aftermath of much of Arcadia’s destruction, Candace shrunk away. It was too much for her, too much to process, even though she came out lucky, her workplace still standing. She had been cowardly. She was aware of that.

But she would make it up to the quaint little island. It wasn’t her fault that so many were out of a job or even a home, but she felt it was her responsibility to help.

Early that morning, the seamstress had lugged four big boxes out to the front of Three Sisters Inn. With homes and workplaces gone, the hotels were naturally more populated lately. She figured this would be a good starting place.

Candace sat herself down behind a little fold-out table; a small paper note on the table read “free blankets” in neat lettering. Her four boxes were full to the brim with expertly knit blankets of a variety of colors. While there were surely other things people needed more... this was what she had to offer.

It’s a scary world out there. The reality of that had admittedly made her a bit reclusive.

When Popuri spotted Candace her face lit up. 

“Hi!!” She said happily in reply, pulling Candace into a tight hug.

When she pulled away she continued, “Well, I’m not really here to look any clothes, I came to see you!” She quickly backtracked, “Well I am here to look at your beautiful clothes, too! I’m just not shopping… I’m not sure anything would fit me…” She finished quietly, shrugging.

“But, yeah I mostly came to hang out with you again! I had so much fun at the beach I wanted to see you again!” Popuri said clapping her hands together.

Before she knew it, Popuri squished her into a hug, and although it felt weird, being the reserved and somewhat touch-starved girl she was... it didn’t feel wrong. It brought a blush to the tailor’s cheeks, but despite it, she smiled and gently returned the hug.

A warm, sweet feeling bubbled in her chest, like the feeling of drinking hot chocolate. She had come to see her? ... Why?

“Oh, thank you, Popuri... I’m happy you like them.” Her welcoming smile wavered at her visitor’s blatant shift in attitude, a sliver of guilt catching itself in her throat. The last thing she wanted to do with her clothing was make others feel embarrassed or ashamed... The nature of selling premade clothing had that pitfall, and with her only being one person, the store’s range of sizes was admittedly lacking...

“It’s... hard to find the perfect fit with clothing that isn’t made just for you,” Candace began softly, gently. “... But... I could do a custom fitting for you... If you wanted.”

Of all the days to not check the weather…

Violet shivered, standing beneath a tree as rain poured down all around her. It was her one day off that week, and she had the luck to spend a portion of it taking shelter from the rain. And, of course, she had just left the library, and she couldn’t just walk home in the rain and potentially ruin any of the books…

She looked up at the sky as thunder cracked, wondering just how long it would last. Would it be a long storm…or would it pass through? 

“…Hello.”

Violet jumped, not expecting to hear a voice at all. She looked down, taking a slight step back out of her own nerves. But thankfully…it was just another woman, holding an umbrella.

“N…N-No…” Violet admitted, trying to calm herself down, “I-I forgot to check the weather…” It was pretty embarrassing to admit it.

As Candace peeked between the leaves, from the dim light of the street lamps, she could make out a young woman, sharing both a similar height and timid demeanor with the seamstress herself. When she spoke, the stranger flinched and shrunk away from her--and she couldn’t blame her. Being out here in this, alone, was bound to put people on edge.

“I’m sorry,” she spoke softly. “I didn’t mean to startle you... But if it helps you feel better... Um, I didn’t check either. I just had an umbrella on hand...”

She shifted in her waterlogged shoes and brought her umbrella closer to the tree. It wasn’t a big thing, as it didn’t really need to be, but it probably had enough room to cover two...

The colors and patterns requested were not Candace’s forte, and the caller had been a bit... unclear... but she actually found it to be a refreshing change of pace. Similar garments might sell well in this season...

But this one was specially made for her customer.

When Popuri was little most of her clothing were made either by her mother or purchased from the local tailor. There was a tiny boutique in her tiny town and that’s where most people bought their clothes. So, Popuri was used to buying from tiny shops.

However, since she’d moved out on her own she’d gained a lot of weight. She knew that tiny stores probably wouldn’t carry her size, and it was kind of embarrassing to try on clothing and have everything not fit… so she’d avoided shopping at the little shops on the islands.

But now she had a reason to go! She met a pretty girl at the beach and turns out she owns the boutique! Even if Popuri couldn’t fit into any of the clothes, she wanted to visit and see her friend! So for the first time she went into Sonata Tailoring.

Popuri quietly browsed all of the clothes, touching all of the nice fabric. She was only half paying attention to the clothes, the other half of her attention was focused on looking for Candace

The store’s tailor was shut in the back room, rummaging around for the perfect thread to match this exact shade of mauve...

Her efforts were all in vain though, as she failed to find a spool that met her expectations. Candace moved over to her desk and noted down her need for the thread; if she wanted to do this project, she couldn’t settle for anything else... She had been looking forward to working on it, but there was always something else to do.

She lifted her head and looked out at the store, whose racks and shelves were slowly filling as time went on. To her surprise (and slight embarrassment) a pink-haired head poked out from among the racks. She had a customer...! And she’d been in the back, leaving them without assistance!

... It was the sweet girl from the beach.

Oh, of all the people to leave a bad impression on...

Summer was in full swing...

It wasn’t her strength, but... expanding the inventory with more heat-suited clothing would be smart.

Rain bombarded the path as another boom of thunder cracked overhead. The sound of the water pounding on her umbrella muted nearly everything else as she looked down at her shoes, which were only barely managing to keep her socks from taking on water.

Candace sighed softly. As much as she loved the rain, being in it was less enjoyable. Especially when she hadn’t checked the forecast that day and had left her raincoat at home...

She was on her trudging commute home that evening, and the world was bleary and dark--save for a little figure of color up ahead. Someone was beneath a tree, seemingly taking shelter from the rain...

It was hardly a summer outfit and far from a swimsuit, but it was the best the poor girl could bring herself to do, and even now, she couldn’t help but be self-conscious of her exposed calves and knees. She felt vulnerable.

But Candace steeled her resolve with a quiet huff. There was nothing to worry about.
