Not everyone can say theyâve been to the Big Apple, but EMMANUEL DELGADO, a 38-year-old CIS MAN has lived in LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS for 16 YEARS. This is the city of dreams and HE knows it, because they came to NYC to be a FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST. Living in the city means they meet all kinds of people, but everyone always seems to think they look like PETER GADIOT. They even got away with free cab fare once because of it!

biography
emmanuelâs father had a creed: get as much as you can with the least amount of effort. this was never something that was spoken aloud, but rather demonstrated through his actions.
emmanuelâs father sold diamonds and jewels, and he wasnât good at it. his mother worked three days a week at a local boutique for minimum wage. both his parents complained of their small, disintegrating house in the middle of nowhere, maine, but neither was ever willing to do anything about it. his father spent one week out of every month traveling to partake in sketchy diamond dealings and the other three weeks sitting at home watching fox news and complaining about the liberals.
emmanuel was dissatisfied with this life the very moment he was old enough to wonder whether things couldnât be different â and he began to wonder this earlier than most. why hadnât either of his parents gone to college? he wondered. why didnât they go now, if it meant a better job at the end? didnât they have passions, ambitions, didnât they care that their lives were pathetically empty, that they were, in nearly all ways, pointless?
he did not hate his useless, lethargic parents, but emmanuel has never felt any respect for them. and in return, they didnât know what to make of their son; he wasnât always the smartest kid in the class but he was the hardest worker. his determination was unsurpassed, and it surprised no one when he got into the university of pennsylvania. it was there that he received his bachelor of science degree, after which he moved to new york to get his medical degree at nyu.
college was not the first time emmanuel engaged in illegal activity (he was known to pocket things in his childhood, particularly before he was old enough to get a job and his parents had no money to give him to spend), but it was the first time he did it with the strategic purpose of getting ahead in his field.
it was a medical conference in boston. a competitive opening for a graduate presenter, and emmanuel knew one of his peers â an unattractive girl with an IQ the size of texas â was the obvious choice. and emmanuel â never the smartest, but ever cunning â scared her out of it by sewing doubt, and nabbed the spot for himself. it was likely one of the things on his resume that helped him secure his three-year residency at newyork-presbyterian, which ultimately led to a fellowship and then a job at the same hospital as a forensic pathologist.
it was death that lured emmanuel into the field. heâd always been fascinated by death, the unknowability, the mystery of it, and when heâs doing autopsies, when heâs trying to piece together a puzzle about how a person died, he feels in control. he feels like god.
he was thirty-one the first time a very wealthy woman came to him with a bribe, and emmanuel hardly needed to think about it. he took the money, and he forged the results of an autopsy. this woman was the beginning of it: within a year he had built up a quiet network of connections, nothing so large he couldnât handle it, always keeping himself out of the dirty details, but a decent network nevertheless.
as heâs edging towards forty, heâs enjoying his side hustle as much as he always has, more, perhaps, because heâs gotten good at it, but heâs also begun to wonder how long he can keep this up without things getting dirty. to his logical mind, it feels inevitable.
when it comes to love, emmanuel is hard to please. he would rather be alone than with someone he doesnât like, and so heâs been alone most of his life save for a couple long-term relationships that both ended because he wouldnât tell them about his shady dealings and got sick of it. he hardly sleeps around either -- it takes quite a lot to grab his attention and even more to hold it.
wanted connections
a few people heâs taken bribes from to forge autopsy reports
or anything else in that arena, maybe heâs been a third party to help connect other people bc heâs got a small network
people to butt heads with him PLEASE heâs honestly not super friendly, like heâs not gonna go out of his way to be a dick or anything but heâs not gregarious and he doesnât care what impression he makes
a few friends tho :/ theyâd be people heâs known a long time and really trusts
someone who rly challenges his left-brainedness, like someone artsy whoâs like god damn dude u gotta be a little creative sometimes or u will shrivel up and DIE
maybe like someone fascinated by what he does and heâs let them see an autopsy or something??? gross we love to see it
someone put a joint in this manâs hand when i tell u he has never touched his lips to one before
like a running buddy or sumn đ
