Why are you doing X and aren't doing Y. Why don't you drink. Smoke. Vape. Your dreams are delusional. Why are you trying this. This isn't how things are done ...

Hearing things like this is demoralising. But you have to remember that these statements are based on their lived reality and their minimum standards. And have nothing to do with your life & your reality.

Minimum standard is the baseline of which you can live comfortably although not optimally (EX. You're doomscrolling but are comfortable)

Your dreams, visions, goals shouldn't be restrained by others that aren't significant for your life. Their frameworks are not absolute.

The best course of action is:

evaluate your environment. Are these people, my friend really that good for me? Do they have a lifestyle that I'm inspired by? Do our values even align or am I blinded by nostalgia or time spend together?

2. Distant yourself from people that do not fit your visions and an environment that doesn't care about you.

Cognitive distortions are patterns of thinking that can make a situation feel worse, more extrem or more certain then they are. They often happen automatically especially under stress.

If I'm not perfect I'm a failure -> All-or-nothing thinking

->I can not be perfect but still good

They think I'm weird -> Mind reading

-> I don't actually know what they're thinking

This always happens to me -> Overgeneralisation

-> Just because it happened once doesn't mean it's happening again.

This is going to go terribly I just know it -> Catastrophizing

->It might not go how I want it to, but I can handle it

I feel anxious. Something must be wrong -> Emotional reasoning

->Feeling anxious doesn't mean I'm in danger

I already know how it ends -> Fortune telling

->I can't predict the future with certainty

That one good thing I did doesn't count -> Discounting the positive

->That actually does count even if it feels small

Individual ambition vs. societal limitations: How social origin, class, or environment restrict personal dreams.

The internet is a great place to get knowledge about self help and related topics.

But with this opportunity a lot of you fall into a pitfall called:

Information overload

Information overload means that you have collected so much inspo or ideas that you can't seem to start or are trying to get the perfect routine before you want to start

Essentially you become knowledgeable but you don't take actions.

Action is worth 10X more than knowledge

Example morning routine

You want to create a optimal morning routine which includes a training session. You look at inspo and like some that you really like

You make your first routine and still feel like it's not enough, because in a morning routine there are so many different steps one can do. Just type in morning routine and you see so many different examples of things you can include in your morning routine.

So you'll feel like your morning routine must be revised and optimated.

By doing this you're morning routine becomes to overloaded especially if you're starting with your self help journey you can get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of things you have to do -> no action will follow

So look at all your liked and saved content.

Do you really need this or did you already have a better thing saved and this one is just a add on that isn't needed?

Are you actually able to visualise something from this post -> do you have resolve and does it truly inspire you to follow through with it in your life .

Or is it just bloating your likes / saves up.

Just saving an advice doesn't have effect -> actually following through does.

You like things because of a purpose

So go through your likes/saves sort them and actually use them to level up

-> Also have a list of videos or creators that you resonate with and follow their advice on a topic (ex. confidence)

-> Don't blindly follow advice always use discernment

EX. Someone talks about finances but you're based in another country

This means you can't take everything at face value -> different countries have different systems

-> Apply advice to your own situation

✿ make a new years playlist

✿ think about your goals next year

✿ cancel redundant subscriptions

✿ delete unused apps

✿ delete unneeded chats

✿ set time limits for apps
