“you… what?” no one has ever been so kind to her. and truthfully, she hadn’t expected an act of kindness like this from someone as blunt and airheaded as her classmate. for a moment, lilian simply blinks at nanami, but then her gloved hands carefully take up the switch. she holds it like it’s a precious object — which, to her, it is. she doesn’t think she’s ever held anything this expensive in her life. “is this… because you want to play games with me?”

that’s the only explanation she can muster up. surely, no one could be as unselfish or loaded to gift someone a gaming console, no strings attached. nanami must want something from her. but as far as this excuse goes… is nanami so in need of people to play games with her that she’d enlist the help of the lanky, unimpressive class ghost? even komaeda would make a better play partner, she thinks. “o-of course, i’d be happy to, but… are you sure i can accept this? i know you’ve no use for it anymore, but…” no, it would be rude to return the gift. resolutely, lilian nods, as if she’s been given a royal quest by the queen of the land. “i shall treasure this with my very life, nanami-san.”

“um... yeah, i wanna play games with you. of course i do.” chiaki doesn’t even seem to notice that lilian meant it more as an ulterior motive than just a statement of fact. “i wanna play games with all my classmates... i think. we’re friends, right?” she sounds a little hesitant there, almost uncertain. she doesn’t really know the first thing about making friends outside of games, where it’s as easy as giving them gifts or fighting alongside them to unlock a higher support conversation. in games where it’s more complicated, like dating sims, she tends to fail utterly.

“wait, you just asked?” that… renders him a little speechless. the mental picture of his friend wandering blithely into… (where had she even gone? she just said ‘a few places’…) wherever she’d gone to, asking guys about their size… hinata feels like he’s going to faint. sometimes, he wonders about chiaki. how has she survived this long? or maybe… she’s figured out the secret to life and everyone needs to take a page from her book. “do you think the prophecy needs him to be… you know, exactly ten? should i…” …check? hinata doesn’t even want to think about how he’d ask that.

it’s then that he finally looks up through the window, and his heart threatens to stop. the guy working out there… is shredded. completely shredded, to the point where it would be pretty scary if it weren’t sort of hot. this guy could definitely bench-press hinata like it’s nothing. and for some reason, that translates in his mind as… nurturing? yeah, nurturing. he can roll with that. his throat is suddenly dry, nerves overtaking him. “o-on second thought… he could have been lying.” but his voice is coming out in a squeak, and his face is a bright shade of red, and tellingly, he isn’t looking at the guy whose package is very clearly on display within his booty shorts.

a slight frown creases her lips. she doesn’t even know why she feels so... annoyed to see the way hinata is looking (disrespectfully). it makes some kind of sour resentment bubble up inside her, but as usual with most negative things she feels, she just pushes it right back down again.

words can’t describe how relieved hinata is once his friend has zipped up his jacket. he can finally look at her again, but… well. she does look really cute in his jacket. would it be weird to let her keep it? …yeah, it’d probably be weird.

unfortunately, hinata’s relief doesn’t last long. one crisis averted, and another pops right back up. that’s… how life is, but he can’t help but feel frustrated that he doesn’t even get a moment’s rest. because the thing they were talking about… was the prophecy. “you were saying, uh… that you found a guy.” he doesn’t dare say the rest of it out loud. how can he just say that his crush has found a 10-incher for him to have sex with by the next full moon? “…do i want to know how you know his size?”

“oh, right...” chiaki’s not the superstitious type, but hinata’s taking the whole thing so seriously she can’t help but believe him. or at least, he believes he’s right, so she’d feel bad if she didn’t help him out. “i scoped out a few places and acted like i was doing a survey. so... i guess i just asked people? and this guy was the only one who said ten inches who like, actually seemed sincere.”

phew. okay. okay. deep breaths, man. you can do this.

it’s with these thoughts that hinata forces himself to look back over at his friend. yes —his friend. his friend his friend his friend his friend, who just happens to be wearing a… that, kind of dress, which is fine, because he’s totally okay. it’s telling, though, how hinata can’t look chiaki in the eye—or in her direction at all. “uh, here.” and he takes off his jacket and hands it to her, trying to hide how his cheeks are still burning. “you can cover up with this.”

“oh... thank you.” she gratefully takes his jacket and pushes her arms through it. it’s unlike her to come out without a hoodie, but this was one of the few times she’d somehow managed to forget it at home. once she’s zipped up hinata’s jacket, she feels a lot less exposed, though it’s long enough on her that only a little bit of the skirt from her dress peeks out underneath, and her hands have disappeared into the sleeves almost entirely.

maybe anybody else would be embarrassed to be discussing this so frankly with a male friend, but chiaki shows no sign of remorse whatsoever. her expression is as bland as usual as she glances down to where her cleavage lies prominently exposed thanks to an ill-fitting (at least, for her chest) dress she put on earlier that day.
