A Wailing Dogâs Diary
I am going to write this to remind me how I became neglectful in my responsibilities as an owner.
He was a companion weâve taken for granted. When he was a pup, we played with him almost in his pupâs life but as he grows older, he becomes neglected.
He was chained and only made free for a very rare occasion. In 2019, we attended an annual family camp for a week - the first time we were separated for a long time. Come 2022 when the pandemic subsided, they (with an older one) were left for the second time and this year the third time.
We came back on the 8th of April noticing that heâs plate has not been emptied but filled with his near-to-rot food. Maybe because of the blazing heat of summer, he has no appetite, I thought. That continued for three weeks. Imagine a dog, unable to speak about its ailing condition that he refused to eat its food. He used to bark at an unfamiliar voice, a chicken passerby in his area, and a neighborâs dog barking. Never did he do that from the day we returned but always crouching.
On the 2nd day of the month of May, his private parts came out so red and swollen. Heâs discharging blood.
