I've also tried some different designs but I think I may have to leave it to next project. This idea is to make the piece to stay inside the object after vacuum. I really like the result and I could see there's more ideas to develop.
I made some plywood cap to cover the bottom and I made two version. I have to sand the top part of the cap and make sure it seals perfectly.
After several experiments, I found out one sheet per each vacuum forming has better results. I tried to time it but it's better to tap the sheets to make sure it reaches melt flow index then vacuum.
I started experimenting with vacuum forming after I made the cones. I was going to make an umbrella stand but I decided to change my idea. I found out those little legs which created by vacuum are very interesting. So I decided to keep them and sand them to its shape.

For the final project, my idea is to create an umbrella stand. After I used milling machine to create the cone. I started testing the vacuum forming technique.

week 6
I tried to screen print on water soluble fabric and I was failed for the first sample with hi-square ink. Then i printed on the two sheets of the fabric and double it and I got a successful result.
I combined the silicone with the lace that i created and use toothpick to press around the lace to make sure the silicone can form properly.
I wait for 3 hours before I applied the lace onto silicone pieces so I can get a better result of the bubble texture.
This week I tried to colour silicone by using water colour and food colourings. The food colouring was not working with silicone, instead of blending into silicone, it turned into little colour balls when I mixing them together. Water colour blends very well with silicone. When I was waiting for the cure, I cut out some lace and mesh then press them into the silicone pieces that has cured for 3 hours. It has interesting lumps pops out from the lace. I wasn't going to peal the silicone off from the lace, but after I pealed them off the lace. I found an crazy pattern appears on the silicone. I really like that effects.
The next step is to do screen printing this Wed. I had received my inks this Monday.

This week I did some test with silicone. I was pouring the silicone over the vase and wait for an hour and then pouring another layer after 2 hours. I was trying to create a thin layers of silicone bow. I found this technique could create different levels of thickness of silicone.
Another silicone sample that i created is by screen printing with silicone and unfortunately I can't use the screen anymore because silicone is very hard to clean after it got on the silk screen. so I only made one piece out of it. I printed on water soluble fabric and wait for 6 hours curing time then wash off the fabric. I really like the result and for next week I will be able to do the chicken soup textile with proper Hi-Square ink.
Resin with black lace ribbon and red lace paper. I like the contrast between resin and the lace. The red lace piece has 2 different edges and I have to control the resin while I pouring it into the mold so I could get a clear edge. I haven't got my screen ready yet so I was trying to find something to mimic the pattern of chicken soup. I've just ordered the hi-square ink of Union ink from VIC. I'll be experiment with water soluble fabric and Hi-Square ink.
I was experiment with resin with different materials. I found some interesting textures from wool(red) and cotton(white). It took 24 hours to cure the resin. The resin is very clear and has very nice finish on the edge. I will start to try resin with fabric.
Testing colour and repeating patterns.
I was inspired by the texture of chicken stock after cooking for my lunch today. The irregular shapes and sizes of circles are very interesting and amazing! I also did some research about lace making and found Douglas McManus's art work about plastic lace making. I will experiment materials with plastic lace making and resin.
First, I will need to make a screen with the lace texture and than print out the plastic lace by using the union ink. Second, I will place the lace in a mold and brush resin onto the surface in order create my object.
This is my plan for my layers project. :)

We finally had our first sale in the Eveleigh Market! :D
Making Process
I cut out the fabric first and prepare 2 pieces of contrast curtain fabric. Then mark the snaps position on both side. I have to insert the snaps before I saw all the piece together. After snaps are done, I have to sew the handles.
The place handles on the right position and sew around the bag to cloth opening. I leave an opening so i could flip everything inside out.
After press the fabric carefully, then I start to place the magnetic snaps on to the handle.
I really love the results and I will upload the final product in flowing posts.
