Liz Byers

Aoife was sitting at the counter working on her books when she heard Liz.”Oh, uh, Pringles should be in aisle four.”

Liz smiled and walked over. “Thanks, babycakes!” She grabbed four tubes and walked to the counter. “Busy day?”

“I’ve looked at a ridiculous amount of dragons in my lifetime.” He replied with a light chuckle, continuing to draw on his pumpkin, the dragon outline coming together quicker than even he had thought. “They’re all generally the same, as far as outlines are concerned.”

“I spend my days watching Quidditch and my snitch looks like a deranged bird.” She joked. She left a small kiss on Alton’s shoulder. “You’re just good at drawing.”

Bringing his hands up to hold hers, he smiled, before leaning in to give her a soft kiss. “Thank you.” He whispered against her lips, sighing contently before he pulled away again, turning to grab his wallet and slip it into his back pocket. “Are you ready to go?”

She savored the moment, trying to memorize the feel of his lips against hers. “I am.” Liz said, even though she would almost rather stay home with Alton all night. “Do you think you’re going to make it to midnight?”

Aoife walked out from the backroom. “Yeah? What’s up?”

“Alton’s watching Colby, do you want to get some lunch?”

Alton sighed happily, straightening his cuffs one last time before reaching up and doing the same to his tie. It had been ages since he’d put anything nicer than a sport coat on, and although it wasn’t as extravagant as previous years, he was looking forward to it even more. He turned, finding Liz already waiting for him. He hadn’t heard her come in, and he smiled brightly, taken away as always by her beauty. “Don’t you look absolutely stunning, Mrs. Byers.” He purred, closing the distance between them.

Liz had grown bored with waiting for her husband to finish getting ready. She leaned in the doorway of their bedroom and watched as he messed with his cuffs and tie, a smile on her face. She was glad to have Alton all to herself tonight, even if they were going out. “Thank you, Mr. Byers,” Liz smiled at her husband, her hands resting on his chest. “You look handsome.”

“Colby, keep your sock on,” Liz said with a smile as she slipped the red sock back onto the baby’s foot. “Your daddy is going to love this.” She laughed as she picked up her son. He was wearing a red onesie that was decorated to look like Santa’s Christmas suit. The red and green socks he wore had golden jingle bells on the top, and Colby was adorable. It was the child’s first Christmas, and it was way too easy for Liz to go overboard.

She walked into the living room where the tree was set up and walked over to Alton who was sitting on the couch. “Merry Christmas!” Liz said with a smile. “Did you get enough sleep last night?”

Alton laughed, readjusting their son so he could pass him to Liz, but not without a light kiss to his head as he went. “Daddy knows when he’s not going to win, might as well give in while I’m ahead.” He rolled his eyes playfully, kissing Liz on the cheek before picking up the discarded sharpie and beginning to draw on the pumpkin.

Liz smiled as she took Colby from Alton, making sure to be gentle as she held onto him. “Thank you, sweetie.” She cradled the baby and watched as Alton drew. “How did you get good at that?”

Rob let Alton take over helping Liz get to the car as he followed behind them. He stopped midway to turn around and look at Liliana. “Hey, shit, sorry. Can we talk about this in the car or at the hospital? Pretty sure my brother will kill me if we don’t go and quickly.”

Liliana was just standing off to the side feeling awkward and out of place. “So Liz is Altons Wife.” Liliana said to Robert. “Right got it, I’ll just go home. I don’t want to intrude,” she explained.

Alton was growing more and more impatient by the second, and once he had gotten Liz into the car, he turned. But Rob wasn’t there. “As much as I hate to break up the party.” He drawled, sarcasm dripping through his words as he called out to them, still unsure who the other woman was. But he didn’t care, and he didn’t care if she came, as long as she moved her feet. “But I’m sure we’ll have plenty of time to chat at the hospital.” He looked pointedly to Rob before getting in the back of the car with his wife.

Liz climbed into the car, zoning everyone else out but her and Alton. “Thank you,” she breathed as soon as she was buckled in. All she could really worry about was her breathing as she waited for the car to start going. "I think we should go, like, now,” Liz called from the back of the car. She grabbed onto Alton’s hand as soon as he joined her in the back seat and smiled at him. Her attention turned to Rob as he got into the car. “You know how to drive, right?”
