“Hey..” she furrowed her brows with a bit of a playful one-sided smirk, “I’m offering this to you, no debt, okay? now, if you want that in writing, we can arrange that,” she teased, gently nudging her shoulder against his. Carter kept her eyes on him for just a while longer as he spoke, he was a bit lighter with her which was definitely helpful, but his hint of a concern for her was touching. “I’m a warrior,” she said plainly, “una rabiosa, I’m not going to be terrible where there is no threat, especially not to people who don’t deserve it. There’s a time and a place and I’m pretty alright at protecting myself, but thank you, mean guys don’t scare me,” she shook her head. “you try to stay away from people?” She asked curiously, but on the island, it was probably a wise choice to make. averting her eyes to his collar before looking back up at him, she responded, “I’m sorry that’s the case, I’ve been here a little while and I still can’t grasp onto the ‘hurting’ and abusive part of this,” she gestured around them, “I can’t imagine someone wanting to hurt you–or anyone really. I could only want to make you feel really good,” she winked at him once more, scrunching up her nose at her cheekiness before laughing softly at herself and turning her head away. “..sounded pervy–anyway, where’re you from? how’d you end up here?”
“If you insist that much, I guess I have no choice, right?”, Elijah eventually gave up, smiling a little in return. Maybe that was for good. He didn’t have all too much money after all, mostly as he wasn’t working anywhere. If anything, the male hadn’t expected to still be stuck in here. The school obviously has put very much effort into the secret part, not that that was a huge surprise. “Yeah, me neither but I guess I just have to deal with it”, he shrugged. At first, he had ignored Carter’s comments as best as he could, not wanting to let her too close in but eventually Elijah couldn’t hold back any longer, releasing a soft, however genuine laugh. “Yeah, yeah it did. I can’t quite believe you just said it. Why’s that anyway?”, he wondered curiously. “I mean it may not look like it right now but I’m really not a nice guy, Carter. Trust me on that” His smile faded a little at her question of how he ended up here. He wasn’t going to fill her in on the supernatural part, the whole story way too complicated in itself but his expression must have made his feelings about it quite clear. “Don’t know. Guess my family has sent me here. I used to live in Canada back then”
