“Nobody’s stopping you from taking cover under here, you realize that right?” she looked at the other, unimpressed. “I know it’s just a little bit of rain, but your hair doesn’t take almost an hour to dry like mine does,” Billie pointed out, her ginger tresses already frizzing slightly from the rain she hadn’t managed to evade. “I was going to make a beeline back to the dorms the second it started to rain a little less, not sure why you’re out there in the middle of it all waiting for a conversation.”

“I am aware but this is my favorite weather so I won’t be coming in any time soon. Swimming when it’s like this is actually pretty fun too. And you know, hairdryers were created for situations like this.” Elijah answered with a grin on his lips, holding out his hand towards the girl and waggling his eyebrows playfully. “You were staring at me so I felt the lack of conversation was awkward. Come on Red... I’ll be Fred Astaire and you can be Ginger Rogers.”

“I’m a fire fairy, dude. Me and rain do not mix,” Oscar said, staying firmly under the shelter. “I can talk for days. Mainly about how much I hate the rain and storms and lightning and all that shit.”

Elijah licked the rain from his lips again, a slanted grin on his lips. “You know, saying something like that to a storm fairy... probably not the wisest idea. If I felt particularly vindictive I could just make it worse you know.” He joked, no intention of doing anything of the sort. “And you might be a fire fairy but it’s not gonna wash away your abilities. I’m guessing you bathe, what’s the difference?”

“Yes, yes of course,” he nodded in a seemingly attentive manner, waiting until the person left before he turned to who was next to him. “You were totally listening right? Because I didn’t get any of that,” Harvey admitted.

“Was I supposed to?” Elijah asked after a moment, eyebrow raising. “I’m fairly certain you were the one whose attention they wanted if the mooning over you was anything to go by. After that, I kinda shut off.” He stated, giving a light shrug of his shoulders. 

“The fact that the monarchies in the Otherworld still have the prince as the first in line of succession regardless of if he was born after the princess is complete and utter bullshit,” Lottie huffed. “What is it with people thinking women aren’t capable of ruling realms? I sure as hell would be better than half the kings in this place.” 

An inelegant snort escaped Elijah at the girls comments, amusement clear from the smile that was on his lips. “I doubt it’s as easy as you seem to think.” He answered after a moment, popping a few of the colored candies into his mouth. “And you definitely can’t curse so easily in the limelight. How would you ever form a sentence without that ability... you’d probably wither and melt like the wicked witch of the west.” He jibed playfully.
