Compact Rectangular Baskets Woven from Krajood Grass

These compact rectangular organizing baskets are handwoven from Krajood grass, a marsh plant native to southern Thailand.

The dried and flattened stalks are woven into a dense structure, then shaped into baskets and finished to help maintain their strength and form.

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, they are useful for storing stationery, makeup, tea and snacks, household supplies, seasonal accessories, and other small items.

The slim shape fits easily on shelves, while the fitted lids keep the contents neatly out of sight. The three sizes can also be nested together when not in use.

In September 2025, Manfred welcomed me to the Basket Weaving Festival in Lichtenfels, Germany.

In the spring of 2026, he visited Japan.

Together we traveled to Yamanashi, visited Chikuseido, explored Japanese bamboo craft, and shared a day filled with basketry, culture, food, and friendship.

It was a meaningful continuation of a connection that began through basket making.

After the parade, the opening ceremony takes place in the town square, followed by music, local beer, and the lively atmosphere of the festival night.

Dalhausen Basketmakers’ Museum, Germany.

This one-minute video captures the atmosphere of the museum in Dalhausen, a small village in western Germany with a long history of basketmaking.
