For whichever selfships you feel like answering, I've had this prompt in my head all day and thought it might be fun to give:
In Deltarune, there's an item called 'You Flavored Tea', which the player gets to select which party member for it to be flavored after. When this is then given to party members, they will have different perceptions on what the tea is and what it tastes like, and will get healed varying amounts based on how close they are to that person and what their perception of the person is (for example, one character notes it tasting good but having an odd after taste when given the tea of a character they've had a bittersweet relationship to due to having been closer as children than they are now) [When given their own tea, they will always perceive it as water.]
What would your F/O(s) and S/I(s) perceive tea flavored after the other as being, and if you have any specific reasoning behind it, why? - 📦
Ooo this is a fascinating question. I’ll do this with the main guys on my mind at the moment.
Pure Vanilla + Monte Carlo
The flavour hits HARD and you have to sit with it for a second to really take it all in. Earthy, herbal, berry-infused. The aftertaste is mellow, and leaves a warm feeling, reminiscent of cozying up beside a window or fireplace after a long day.
PV has never been short of patience to give Monte, and he’s seen first-hand how giving and kind the guy really is. He respects Monte a lot, and when it comes down to it, spending time with him feels comforting.
Heavy vanilla, of course, with floral notes. But it’s also really sweet, like to the point it’s a little nauseating. Somehow the flavour never dulls, as if each sip he takes is for the first time again.
Monte cares for and admires PV so much. Even as they’ve gotten closer, PV is still the kind of person Monte aspires to be. He’s often intimidated by the concept of being within PV’s circle of friends and admirers.
Infinite + Break the Otter
So sweet and fluffy, like whipped cream and hazelnut, but not to the point of being unappetising - quite the opposite in fact. You end up wanting more of it. There’s no harshness to it whatsoever but that’s a double-edged sword in that it doesn’t leave a distinct impression. But that’s okay. If you keep drinking it, the experience of a nice treat will be what gives you a fondness for it.
Break is the ideal for what Infinite wants in a relationship (or a peon). Soft, submissive, cute, easily frightened. Break makes him feel so damn good about himself because, when he’s with Break, he is the “strong” one in the relationship. Except…Break makes him feel good about himself…Break looks to him for help…Break trusts him…oh god. When you love somebody, that leads to intimacy and vulnerability, and that scares the fuck out of him.
There’s something real bitter in there that kinda throws off the rest of the flavour profile. As you go it gets better, you’re able to discern more of the taste. There’s something herbal here too, bold, strong, it lingers on your tongue. It’d heal for a surprising amount - it’s not a treat, but the overall flavour and decent amount of caffeine is the right kind of pick-me-up to get through the day.
Break can’t ignore the fact that Infinite has caused a lot of harm to a lot of people, including people he cares about. But despite that, he genuinely finds the guy comforting, and sees the positive side to the harsher elements of Infinite’s personality. It’s just nice to be wanted by somebody. And if Infinite sometimes sees Break as more of a possession than a partner, then that’s okay, because sometimes he sees Infinite as more of a protector than a threat.
We’re going to rule that the tea is consumable by robots for the sake of this.
Strong floral flavours and most definitely spiced. It’s a little heavy and overwhelming, but it’s not bad. Take another sip and…it’s actually pretty nice. In fact, there’s elements in there that you recognise, and quite like. It’s delightful on the tongue and puts a warmth in your chest. Even if it’s a little bit bold at times, he’d be okay with having this more frequently.
God knows Shockwave wasn’t a fan of Flatline’s original approach. But as he got to know Flatline - really know him - Shockwave found that they were more aligned than he’d thought. He’s very rarely, if ever, felt this kind of connection with another person. Flatline brings him intrigue, satisfaction, contentment. He’ll take the challenges in stride in order to continue having this bond for the rest of his life.
Sharp and bold. None of its components particularly jump out at you, but it’s the sum of its parts that makes something delicious overall. There’s a slight hint of something like lavender; It’s soothing, relaxing, and probably gives the whole thing a nice purple tint. It leaves a bitter aftertaste. Sometimes you can tolerate it, sometimes you don’t even notice it, but sometimes it puts you off from drinking any at all.
Flatline adores all that Shockwave is, all that he does, and is fascinated with the things that make him him. In the beginning he was quite intense about wanting to peel away every single layer piece by piece. They’ve reached a point of relative stability, but Flatline as an individual has not. It depends day-by-day whether his paranoia and insecurity put thicker walls between himself and his partner.
