Itβs been a while since we last saw each other and I thought, yβknow, Iβd send you a letter, to say hi, andβ¦and see how youβve been. Howβs your mom? She doing okay?
Things are going great down here. The new castleβs holding up great and the Super Mario Brothers are back in business, doing what they do best - saving the day. Yep, things are pretty much back to normal around here. Oh and uh, Iβm doing good too. Glad to be back on solid ground, heheh.
Yeahβ¦ So what have you been up to lately? I donβt even know how long these things take to reach you. You could be galaxies away by the time you get this letter. β¦Are you thinking of swinging by the Mushroom Kingdom anytime soon? I-is your family, I mean, thinking about visiting, no pressure or anything I just know that they really enjoyed it last time. Could be nice to show you them around without some disaster striking.
Iβve been thinking about you since you guys all left. Itβs not every day that you find out you have a fan clubβ¦or your own number one fan, hah. β¦Iβm not used to being the one getting the attention. Iβm not mad about it or anything - and my brother deserves the world - but it does feel kinda nice. Who wouldβve thought a guy like me would be some kind of big local hero, o-or go all the way to space! Oh my gosh!
Sorry, uh, anyway, point isβ¦Youβre so open about how much you admire me and, that means I donβt have to second guess it. Or that youβre being honest about it. You see me for who I am, you met me face-to-face after building up this whole great big image of me in your mind, and you still think Iβm amazing. And that is great, because, I kinda think youβre amazing tooβ¦
Iβve never met anyone like you, Razz. N-not just because youβre a Luma, but, on the inside too, like in a figurative way. I do think you being a giant star tiger is pretty neat! And youβre nice, youβve got a big heart, yβknow your family obviously means a lot to you - mine do too. I think we have a lot in common and itβd be nice to maybe explore that some more, maybe see where it goes.
I hope we can meet up again soon. Maybe if you do swing by we couldβ¦hang outβ¦just you and me? Iβve been doing a lot of star-gazing lately. It could be fun to do it with someone who actually knows her way around. I-If not then thatβs totally fine, donβt worry about it, but uh, at least write back soon? I like hearing from you. They share secrets and parts of themselves they usually wouldn't dream of sharing, and they do it without a second thought; some of what they share reveals deep scars, long buried to survive a world that has been harsh and cruel to them. Other times, it's mundane moments. Ideas they've been thinking about, mild inconveniences they've faced, foods they want to try, places they want to goβall the small, daily dreams that make up a life, ones they've never had anyone to share them with. Ones they've never felt safe enough to dwell on, before they met you.
When you're here with them, they know they can rest. They close their eyes, breathing deepβand for once, nightmares neither dreamed nor waking can find them.
