THE ELDON

We had the honor of giving a tour to Deek & Dustin Diedricksen of Relax Shacks during the GA Tiny House Festival. Have a looksie at what we've been doing the past year.

James also got to speak on a panel representing skoolies, alongside Reid Roach and his process for building his tiny house. Post 2 of 2. 

Throughout the weekend, we saw some really great tiny houses, met amazing humans, served cocktails, rode on a helicopter, smelled lavender, and showed Eldon off for the first time. Post 1 of 2. 

Day 61: A few of the small projects are wrapped up. Installing the head pads (covered by Alabama Auto Tops along with the driver seat), mirror/medicine cabinet, stained shelf in the bathroom nook to match the rest of the countertops throughout the bus, and finally the original steel placard denoting the year, vin, etc. of the bus. 

Day 60: the last of the plumbing! We installed the hoses for the fresh water tank as well as the air vent for both tanks. We wrapped a screen around the end of the air vent lines to keep bugs and large pieces of debris out of the tanks. So happy to have this part of all wrapped up! 

Day 59: Let’s paint those booths and install the table (at last!). We slid the table into the groove of the window sills and used brackets against the wall. Then we used the chrome table legs to secure to the floor. I’m telling you, the chair facing the rest of the bus might be my favorite spot in the whole bus.

We had to wire this thing as 110 so we’ll only be able to use it if we’re hooked to shore power or the inverter. 

When we originally put the walls up, we had anticipated the window sills being a bit lower. After some consideration, we realized that it’d look better aligned with the base of the windows. To compensate for the gap, we placed some trim that would mask that, while also providing support to the sill. It also creates a nice gap for the table to slide into when we install it. 

Day 54: We built some custom screens so that we can have our windows down at night without all the light-frenzied-bugs. :)

Day 53: Time for another mural trip. We took the bus out for a spin around our neighborhood again in Atlanta and stopped for a couple of shots along the way. The first mural is by Sten Lex, and the bottom is by Gaia & Nanook for Living Walls. 

Day 52: We figured we might as well put some bases in our drawers. This was one of those projects that had been on the list for a while, but other things sort of took over along the way. Happy with how they all turned out. We’ll be painting the inside of these white. The sealant dried clear and will prevent crumbs and dust from falling between the bases.
