Etching etching etching. Love me some nitric acid for dinner. I still need to draw the color layers for these babies! Going to edition them (as two separate images) in 1 color and as a CMYK. Just as fair warning, I'll be progressing slowly on this project since I'm focusing on my work for my MFA show at this point and unfortunately these guys won't make the cut (for conceptual reasons). Very messy images here, but this gives you insight on my process! This is what I'm focusing on today, trying to start finalizing this composition. I'm working back and forth between a physical collage on my studio wall, small sketches in my sketch book, and this Photoshop collage. On the computer I can continuously move certain object around, copy them and change their size, and see how color might start to look. In this piece I am trying to utilize landscape and depth which is very challenging for me. This is another reason I have chosen to sketch digitally... there is just so much that needs constant reworking. These are just 5 panels of the 8 that will make up this piece. They will go from this messy state and become fully rendered, full color, hand drawn and printed lithographs! Sorry not all posts can be "beautiful" but the reality of art is that it's just messy.
