Bela Lugosi's commissioned painting of Clara Bow by Geza Kende, 1929.
A brief affair between Clara and Bela Lugosi began after she saw the play "Dracula" in 1929. Clara wore only a bathing suit under a fur coat to the theater, and Lugosi later joked of her infamous "love bites" all along his back. The painting remained in his home until his death in 1956.

[...] the Arbuckle scandal set off puritanical shrieks of horror, along with attendant calls for a complete Hollywood moral cleansing. Imported by Famous Players-Lasky to write titillating scenarios, Elinor Glyn needed to cool things down some by the time she wrote the scenarios for and consulted during filming on Beyond the Rocks. Gloria Swanson reports that the picture had to be less sensual than the studio and the public had hoped, because watchdogs from the newly formed Hays Office were on hand, ready to bark at the scent of anything they judged too risky.
One of the Hays Office's new rules stipulated that kisses should run no longer than three seconds. "So we shot each kiss twice," said Swanson, once for the American market, once for the European and South American. "Poor Rudy could barely get his nostrils flaring before the American version was over."
Though kisses had to be abbreviated, there was no impediment to showing Valentino's provocative kiss on the palm rather than the back of his lady's hand, a little trick Madame Glyn had taught him. β Dark Lover: The Life and Death of Rudolph Valentino by Emily W. Leider

Clara Bow (July 29, 1905 β1965) in 1925, Los Angeles.
The picture was created in the interior of a professional photography studio at the Preferred Pictures film company (at the beginning of the following year, 1926, the actress moved to the Paramount Pictures studio). The name of a particular photographer is not recorded in the archive catalogs of Getty Images, but the picture belongs to the official series of studio advertising portraits of Clara Bow, prepared for the press and film magazines.

Clara took Archie home where β according to biographer David Stenn β he soon damaged her furniture! (She loved him irregardless!)
