Just feel like writing
It's my day off, and I found out my job basically ends next June when it goes into liquidation and the pharmacy shuts down. I've been quiet about it, but I am offered another job, which is even closer to home.
Normally I go to work (about an hour and a half early) and fix up the place. I know it sounds dull but this has been my job since 2008, I got it when I was attending Cal State Fullerton.
Aside from finding my job occupation while thinking I was going to end up with a career going to college, it sucks that my job is going out of business. That's not to say I won't continue working the same job elsewhere, because I've stayed loyal they're giving me a similar job as a manager for a different company.
It just bugs me, I like my current job and the store. It's jerks that steal items that ruined the company.
I'm not in a financial bind, people who work as a manager where I work get paid a lot. Even if I quit my job I'm set for at least 8 years if I didn't feel like working, but I like to work and buy junk.
Plus fuck all the fancy stuff, my dad taught me at a young age that you don't need to buy all those fancy items just to get by. Kids used to make fun of my backpacks, shoes and clothes but hey I was poor and at least they weren't hand me downs.
Now that I've made my own money, I can afford some of the nicer things! But it's strange what life throws at you, had I known the business would struggle, that family members die, I probably would have put more thought into having more free time to be with family than working so much.
I grew up with 2 positive female role models, both worked as crossing guards (how I met them) and one of them was at the DMV about 5 years ago. Her name was Bee Jay (I know it sounds like a sexual joke) but I found out that lady was 91.
For all the years she found minimal jobs, working at 7-Eleven and struggling to pay rent, she inspired me when I found work. I don't know where she lives, if she's still alive, but I do know she looked like she was 50 and had all her marbles in her head.
Which is why I planned my funeral, it's all paid for and I talked to a guy about my Will. I found out when you plan you funeral it's much cheaper, you save roughly $8,000 buying your plot of land, the casket and the service when you pay ahead of time.
It's a little motivation, like if I dropped dead right now I wouldn't care if all my stuff got thrown out and wouldn't have to pay for a funeral service. Just less things to worry about.
Working hard pays off if you simply work. You just need to have the motivation to get up, shower and do the job to pay rent.
It's why I jog, it's also why I work so damn much and avoid taking days off. Summer will be my 15th year working for the same company, but also when it goes out of business.
I know there's no severance pay when I move on, but my resume lasts a lifetime. Long as I don't get fired I can work for 3 different companies, all because I picked up a night job while attending college.
It just bothered me, because my dad died when he turned 40 and I just turned 41 a couple weeks ago, which I have to admit sucks. You watch those cartoons, especially around this time like that Scrooge Duck cartoon where all he had to do was enjoy the holidays and that kid with the gimpy leg lived.
The next 6 or 7 months will suck, people keep leaving, but I know the store will close around June. All the codes I memorized will become obsolete, but it doesn't matter, I'll just go to work and figure it all out and start all over again.
Work absolutely sucks, but at least I'll have a job and be able to pay bills. Long as I have a roof over my head I'll survive, especially with how much rent has gone up.
Rent costs too much, I need to buy a cheap house somewhere. Oh well, thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!
Love it
