Prayers for Phra Wisanukam (2021) | Been contemplating to post this painting for the longest while; The time feels right and ripe now. / Had one of my favourite semesters taking hitherto the only fine arts module in NUS FASS, taught by the inspiring Prof. Irving. / Phra Wisanukam is the Thai Buddhist god of painting/crafts/engineering, venerated by students, artists, and professionals in related fields. / Chose him and featured myself in this painting as a tangible dedication for my first love in fine arts. / This "canvas" is in fact a recycled kitchen cabinet, picked up from a recycling centre — intact, intriguing, and of a challenging size (yeah, was scrambling to complete it along with other existing assignments back then lol). / Recalling the times I carried this half-complete cabinet door from home to Wat Uttamayanmuni for consultations with Prof. Irving, who paints regularly at the temple (drop by when you can; those murals are his labour of love)! Knock, Knock, it's a Kanok (2021) | Almost two years since drawing this kanok saam tua for a drawing test. Ecstasy (2021) | i had this piece started for a while now, sometime late last year, but left it incomplete because i couldn't handle the drudgery of mixing stale hues and uninspiring colours. i felt it in me to paint yesterday and fished this out to continue, finally to its completion. / it starts with me but ends with you. / a sheer joy from gliding with the currents and cruising with the waves; immense emotions while listening to songs by Seafret, thereafter by Ava Max. / i'm a chameleon: shapeshifting with different human energies, yet at my core, i'm home to all pigments imaginable. / ecstasy's lifelong partner is fantasy.
