This is Vita Splintervein, my Charr elementalist.
Now let me tell you a little bit about my cute girl charr. She is a Combat Medic, as much of a monk as you can play in gw2.
How!?! You might wonder. Well it starts with my semi-permanent water attunement. Which if traited, can give you a lot of cool healing benefits.
Vita has the following traits: 6 in water, 6 in air and 2 in arcane.
water: Soothing wave (V), Aquamancer’s Alacrity (VIII), Cleansing water (XI)
Air: Quick glyphs (III), Inscription (VIII), Tempest defence(XI)
Arcane: Arcane shield (III).
The water ones lets me heal conditions off others faster and give me regen if something tries to kill me. But it doest stop there.
On my 8th and 10th skill i have the Elemental glyphs, these are both my body blockers and because my air trait also give me regen when i send one off. Also Tempest lets me do more dmg when foes are disabled and helps me when something tries to disable me.
On my 7th I have another arcane shield to negate more possible dmg. And on my 9th I have conjure frost bow. Frost bow has some high spiking dmg, as well as a healing effect when i shoot friendlies.
My heal skill is Glyph of harmony, because its also affected by the glyph trait. So thats a double heal right there. has healed me up from less than 25% many a time.
My weapon of choice to compliment all that is the staff. It has 2 heal fields, the nr5 skill because of my traits now removes 2 conditions. The nr 4 is my go to for slowing down foes, since i’m very much a ranged player, slowing down whats rushing at you is perfect. it allows mr to send a elemental in my stead leaving me free to kill is from a distance. The Nr3 skill is a spike heal, great for saving party members before they get them selves killed. (I’m looking at you warriors out there :P) The Nr2 skill gives vulnerability, this works very nicely with my nr 4 skill. and remember traits have reduced the recharge of my staff skills. It also affects Frost bow i believe. (Don’t quote on that though :P) And the nr1 skill which i relly only use when everything else is recharging, heals and friendly who happens to be hit by it as i’m doing (small) bits of dmg.
But It doesn’t stop there. Healing is based of what gear you’re wearing, so if you aren’t wearing something that maximizes that, You’ll not be doing the amount of healing you could be doing.
So Vita is wearing Clerics armor set, with the Grove sup rune set. Lots of healing points there. But I’m not done yet. Vita’s staff is also a Clerics staff with a sup sigil of life and a sigil of water on it. Life is a +10 for every kill, Now i see you thinking, but you can’t kill anything with that! And you’d be WRONG. Yes, she’s slower in killing things. But that is the trade off. And remember, i’m trying to be a healer, not a dmg-cannon. The sigil of water one, gives a 30% chance to heal near by players when you hit something. And the trait speeds up your weapon skills. so plenty chance to heal.
Now the trinkets: I went with the sapphire set, again, because of highest healing. I also have prayer to Otter and Purge signet Ascended trinkets.
All this give Vita the amazing stats of +/- 14,000 healing.
Wanna know how that translates in to gameplay? Here’s one you can ponder. Any team i join on a story mode dungeon, we finish the dungeon somewhere between 10 and 25 minutes. depending on player skill, cut screens and which dungeon it is. My personal record start to finish is the Ascalon story, which we did in 9 minutes and 47 seconds, from entering the dungeon to exiting. Which was with my guildies, The Splinter warband. A Charr Roleplay guild, where Vita is their Medic and Legionair.
So, next time you encounter a water-elementalist. Think, before you start mocking them. “Hey maybe they’re actually epic in a dungeon fight, capable of keeping everybody else alive.” And maybe you’ll learn that not all elementalists have to be fire ele’s.
And if you happen to play a Charr on the EU servers, and you’re looking for a warband. Send me a whisper.
See ya’ll in game!
