What I like the most...
What I like the most about my interview question answers is that I can reflect on my learning for the semester. The questions have a lot of elements to look back on and I enjoy relating my past experiences with what I am learning in the present. Its nice to see how this topic has been relevant throughout my education.

What do you like most about your learning?
I like that the information I learned can be applied in the real world. Web writing is only going to become more apart of daily lives with people writing more books online, classes being online a lot of the time, and with social media. All of these things and more require web writing so I am glad I got the chance to learn about it.
Good point! Especially in the modern day we will encounter this, not only in many careers, but just living as humans in daily life. Ebooks are a good point as well! As that will provide different challenges from traditional book writing. Its always obvious to me when someone took their traditional book and uploaded it to the web. Redesigning and writing specially for the web is essential.

I like being able to go back through my assignments and see how I've grown over the semester. Going from not knowing anything about this topic, to being able to write a 24 page paper on it, thats a big improvement! I appreciate the Tumblr aspect because it's been helpful for me to practice what I am learning. I learn through experience, so being able to make post and adjust my strategy has been helpful in understanding the material. It also gives a small taste of what web writers go through.

My question about web writing is are there a way of writing that is most effective for the web? For example, is it better to write in proper sentence case, or in a simpler fashion with abbreviations and such. I understand this changes with what and where you are writing. For social media would it be more effective to write in a "text-y" way?
I guess I am wondering, as a whole, how do we write differently for the web than, say, a book. Are there any universal changes?

What are you most proud of in your writing process?
I’m most proud of how patient I’ve become with my writing process. Earlier in the semester, I used to rush drafts just to get them done, but now I actually give myself time to think, revise, and rethink my ideas. I’m proud that I no longer panic when something feels unclear—I’ve learned to trust that rewriting and reworking a paragraph will eventually make it stronger. I’ve also started using feedback more effectively, which has helped me produce writing that feels more polished and intentional.
Rethinking my ideas is where most of my quality writing comes from. I take a long time to ideate and refine my topic. So it helps to keep revisiting the same section to meditate on it. Yes feedback can be really helpful when you know what to ask for!

Proud of my Process
I am most proud of my revision process. The last project really helped me reinvent how I revise. I can see the value of revision now, when before I omitted it. I'm hoping to get into the habit of creating a foundation of writing to go back and revise, where the best writing will happen. This will also save me time in the long run. Using drafts to get my ideas down, then going back in to reinforce will be faster than going section by section and perfecting each paragraph.

I ate some Milanos only a five minutes ago as I was writing my other weekly posts. I was recently gifted some packs; one is gone, and the other will soon succumb to the same fate. Looking at the image I chose, there is 100% NOT 15 cookies in a pack. I refuse to accept that fact. The rate at which I eat these is alarming.

Here is an element within my "Connecting Data" section. Does this format make sense, or should I re-format it in a paragraph format? I wasn't sure if this simplified it or just made the ideas more jumbled.
I think the organization is great! It is really helpful to lay out everything the data proved. If anything, the wording tripped me up a little. I get a strong sense of your project despite only having a small chunk. Definitely effective, I wouldn't change it.
Rabbit Hole? Feedback Request
I added a section to my paper that I'm not sure about. I am trying to explain the concept through a real-world example, but I don't know if it all connects and is appealing to read. I want to convey the idea that outside factors (things we can't control) can contribute to the success (or non-success) of our content.

Drafting Post College
Drafting across multiple weeks gives me time to process and make sense of large quantities of data. I’ve learned that I need to take a step back between each draft before working on the next. I’ve learned that it helps to create the final document with headers as soon as possible. This way, I can focus on one section at a time. I’ve learned that the larger a project is, the more likely I am to get overwhelmed. This means that I need to give myself time between tasks and focus on one thing at a time. I kept feeling like I was getting nothing done, but I would look at a previous draft and my work-time journal to soothe myself. In the future, I plan to create a checklist for a whole project at the beginning. Then divide up the work tasks week-by-week, instead of creating a new schedule each week.
I MUST have a visualization of my progress in some way to stay motivated. In most aspects of my life I am like this. Having a checklist is helpful for me to visualize and remember all my tasks. It also helps to use subheadings as a way to see how much I've completed. Nice plan for future assignments!

You can ignore the "expand" note, that's for myself so I can keep track of my revision process. I feel like this is the weakest section of my data. I'm having trouble connecting everything back to content strategy.

What did you learn about your writing process?
I learned that I write best when I can see the structure—headings, formatting, graphs, layout. Visual organization helps me understand my own ideas. I also learned that I revise best when the feedback is about function, not just corrections. After college, this will help me write more purposefully for classrooms, administrators, and professional projects.
Good points you bring up! I am totally a visuals person. I have to see the progress I'm making to stay motivated. I can't only do formatting at the end. I agree that simple corrections aren't always helpful. They aren't working to the make the whole better. I think asking the "Why" questions can be helpful to reinforce your topic.
Taking a Step Back
The thing I will take away from this process of drafting over multiple weeks is to remember to step back and take my time with projects. I like to binge my projects and do everything at once. But slowing down has helped my ideas develop and change throughout these few weeks. I have a better understanding of my topic than I did week 1. It also helps to step away so you can come back with fresh eyes and a renewed mind. It becomes hard to see the whole picture when you get bogged down in the details.

Having a good revision process will help me in future classes when I have to write big papers. I will be aware of how much time I need to set aside to revise and edit my papers. This will be helpful when planning a paper. I will also be aware of the best system for this. I have found that when I take breaks from revising and come back to my paper with a clear mind, I have new ideas and catch mistakes.
Great Approach! This is something I have to practice with my designing. Leaving a project for a few hours or even days is super helpful. The longer you stare at something you only notice details right in front of you, you cannot experience the whole. Recognizing that now will totally save you time!

Future Revision
Having a good revision process will help me in my future career by getting me into the habit of going back through what I've written and not being afraid to change it. I usually don't do much revising, I proofread and check for errors, but I'm not in the habit of restructuring or reinforcing my writing after I've done it. This process is helping me understand the value of revising, and how it does improve your final piece. In my design work, I like scrapping and starting over a lot if something isn't working. It's similar to the revising process, maybe I have some elements working, but I need to restructure a section of it. It takes time, but it's worth it in the end.

Good point! Revising is more than just adjusting wording, it's connecting the whole project together. Making sure none of it is in isolation. Expanding ideas, building proof and reinforcing the "why."
