     "T…time… away…?" 

He had never really thought of that; he hated to even begin thinking of spending time apart from Pikachu. He was, in every sense, his other half. He kept Ash in line, helped him grow, and forged a bond so strong that they could practically read each others’ minds.

     "I… if it’s… if it’s that important, then…"

He couldn’t even imagine it. Letting Charizard spend time away from him had been heart wrenching enough. 

     And it wasn’t as if he had forgotten the feeling… when he had almost let his partner go.

He didn’t forget how his heart had dropped into his stomach, how he felt as if he was walking through a vast sea, how he felt like he was taking the very breath from his lungs and throwing it to the careless wind. 

He didn’t forget Pikachu’s face, either. He didn’t forget how upset he seemed, standing there behind him. A few yards, that was all it took for the separation to feel stifling, unbearable…

     But he had done it, thinking it was the most important thing his best friend needed.

And if Pikachu asked?

                    "A-as… long as… I’d get to see him often…"

All Pikachu needed to say was the very word, and he’d give up the world.

Cue a hand shakily falling onto his free shoulder. “Aaasshhh…h-help me…” Skye is going all out with this.

     "Huh? S-Skye, wh--" He then jumped as he heard him speak.
