IGN TV: So let's dive right into Ultimate Spider-Man. This was obviously a huge episode for Scarlet Spider, as he revealed himself to be a double agent. First of all, what was your reaction when you first read that script?

Scott Porter: When you're dealing with Scarlet, I kind of knew that he was morally ambiguous as far as his place on the team. He's always got this dark thing haunting him, and you knew something was just a little bit off. So I had been waiting for something kind of along these lines. I wasn't sure it was going to be a full flip, but it was pretty awesome to channel my inner side I guess.

yes i did! a lot of you have been asking me how i felt about it, and this was pretty much how i felt:

i loved it! all the parts with aunt may and the web warriors were super sweet. and ofc the ending was great, i kinda saw the betrayal coming, but i didn't think they'd reveal his identity! and seeing peter cry broke my heart :( my one complaint is when peter gave the key to aunt may. idk what he was thiking lmao. other than that i loved the ep so much!! one of my faves.

I thought it was interesting that both Peter and Miles went through something huge on the birthdays of their respective mother figures. Miles had just delivered Rio's cake when Peter arrived to help him fight Miles's Goblin, only for Miles to be forced to destroy his best chance to get home. For Peter, Aunt May excused him from her celebration to be a hero, but he was ambushed by the new Sinister Six and betrayed by Ben. They were even both in charge of getting the cake!

In the comics, the Peter Parker of Miles Morales's reality met his end when he got sloppy with his secret identity. The wrong people found out, culminating in a huge battle in front of his house to protect his family. Now that we know the bad guys are going to try and get the key from Aunt May, it seems downright uncanny. I wonder if Miles has noticed any of the similarities.

My poor little heart... T T I can't believe this! Ok, maybe the whole twist thing with Scarlet should've been expected, given his history in the comics, but JESUS! It breaks my heart to see Scarlet Spider betray Spidey like that, after everything they've been through. I honestly hoped he might've bee brainwashed like Rhino, but it seems like Kaine was a willingly participant the entire time?! NO!! WHY!? What do you think is gonna happen now?

it broke my heart too :(! hmmm based on what we saw in the promo, ock and scarlet will go to peter's house to retrieve the key and kidnap aunt may. that probably means something happens to flash, since he was left there to protect aunt may.

Wow, I didn't expect that to happen. Hopefully he'll see Ock is a horrible boss or since his character in the comics flip-flopped from good and bad, maybe something will cause him to make a heroic sacrifice cause knowing Doc Ock, he'll get betrayed by his own creation cause it's not the first time he created something that wound up attacking him(Goblin, not Ultimate Goblin).
