I just got jumped by a Beta 1.8.X video sequence. I've never been broken out of a Minecraft gameplay trance so maliciously by the game on purpose, that was violent. The screen immediately after the TV static freakout (which can't be easily caught) looks like this by the way:

I really hope I like Beta 1.8.X in the end...
For some reason it works better in MultiMC than Betacraft.
Alright, so I booted it up - the menu said Beta 1.8.1 and had the splash text "Indie!" - I closed it quickly because I realized just then that it wasn't at 960x540 yet, and now in the window size I wanted it looks like this:

I just looked up and finally got the meaning of the "Two Week Minecraft Phase", and I'm like... ...nah.
I basically played modified Beta 1.8 for more than two years straight before getting tired, as a long-time Minecraft player, and that's the dump version. Beta 1.8 is the version people dump on. And a relatively small mod of it can give it longevity. My point is that the developers of FR vanilla 1.20+ are somehow making a game that lasts less long than the game did in a former decade, and these developers really have not much in the way of an excuse. It's a weird achievement to boringify Minecraft. I pity that people are allegedly enjoying Minecraft for only two weeks at a time en masse now. In the past it wasn't like that.
I'm seriously wondering about Minecraft FR 1.2 and its potential right now. What if you could remove hunger, add some engaging features, and redefine the world, and it created the ultimate comforting middle place? It's like a big hollow shell that could be occupied by a home.
