Perhaps Mikleo then spends most of his time asleep, too. When humans are sad, a good immediate treatment is food, water, and sleep. You'll feel a lot better when you wake up, even if things still aren't right. Perhaps it works like that for seraphim, too.

When he's on his own and he can't distract himself anymore, he finds a safe place to rest, and closes his eyes for years at a time. He feels a bit better when he wakes, if a little numb. But he's alright and has the energy to live and explore for another few decades, until the loneliness is too much again and he slips back off to sleep.

Sometimes he takes these hibernations in the cozy warmth of his or Sorey's old beds in Elysia. Sometimes he takes them past his barriers in Camlann to sleep as close to Sorey as he can. Sometimes he throws caution to the wind and just tucks himself away in the nearest cave. Sometimes he encases himself in ice. Once the others learn of this habit, and after they've stopped worrying, sometimes he'll let them watch over him for his shorter 'naps'. At Spiritcrest, he wakes to all manner of crude shapes of dried and flaky paint on his face.

sorey+mikleo studies to figure out how to draw them in my style! Thing is I can't draw anime eyes to save my life (nor do I like to draw them) so with characters like them, whose eyes are a key feature, it's hard to preserve the essence of the character. Also... although I thought Mikleo's hair would be more difficult, Sorey's is actually harder to draw :0
