I absolutely love looking into unsolved crimes and paranormal things, so I thought I’d try a new mini series called Not Solved Nights! I know it’s Unsolved but I like Not Solved. Has a ring to it.

So I’m thinking Not Solved Nights might be weekly or every two weeks, depending on how busy I get. I’m really excited to start this little project, and I think I‘ve found the crime I’ll start off with.

So basically, I’m a dumbass. I completely forgot to finish pride papers but I’m leaving the two posts up because they’re up and I don’t see the point in taking them down. 

Pride month is almost over and I’m probably not going to carry on with this series until next year. Hopefully I’ll be more consistent with blogging then. 

So I’m going to try blogging at least once every week, and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll try doing a mini series where I post once every day for a month and maybe then I’ll succeed. 

Hopefully I’ll post within the next week! I’ll probably continue Pride Papers as a once in a while thing where I’ll post something to do with Pride. Who knows.

Something I’ve heard a lot is ‘why is pride important? It’s 2019!’ or ‘people know about gay now, why do we still have pride?’ or the classic ‘why isn’t there a straight pride, since we’re trying to be equal.’ I know a lot of people who still question why pride is important, and I hope that I can answer your question. 

LGBT rights have come a long way since the Stonewall Riots, but there’s still a long way to go. Same sex marriage is now legal in 22 countries, which is an amazing number. It’s still illegal in 72 countries, which even though we’re doing well with it being legalised in 22 countries, it’s still a long way to go. 

It’s not all bad. In the UK, there was a test recorded, one in 1983 and one in 2016. In 1983, only 17% of people were accepting of the LGBT community, but in 2016, 64% of people were accepting of the LGBT community. Even though that’s a good rise of numbers, it’s still a very low number. 

In the UK and the US, we have members of the government who are opposed to the LGBT community and are slowly planning or are even in the process of stripping LGBT rights away. There are still countries where being attracted to the same sex or a gender opposite to your biological sex is punishable by death.

Pride is still important because of these little things that aren’t that little. There’s still homophobes. There’s still transphobes. There are still ignorant people out there who aren’t accepting. There are still people being hurt and killed in the street for being a part of being the LGBT community. Pride is still important because we need to stop these. We need to make sure that same sex marriage is legalised everywhere. We need to make sure that the LGBT community have equal rights to our straight peers. Pride is important because it’s meant to be an accepting place for everyone and it’s meant to show that we exist. We are people who deserve the same rights as our straight peers, that we deserve equality. That’s why pride is important to me. If you have any thoughts, let me know!
