          " hey there, hannah, “  edgar said, giving the blonde an easy smile. it felt like he hadn’t spoke to her in forever. certainly not since before the hogsmeade trip  ---  maybe not before its announcement either. there’d been such a whirlwind of activity in recent days, it was hard to keep up. he made an easy adjustment of his path, walking next to her for a few steps so he could catch up for a few moments. see how she was doing, since they’d last spoken.  “ how have things been going for you? it’s been a while since we’ve gotten to talk. “

                ❛     I  have  vodka  we  could  summon  to  the  kitchens.    ❜     It  was  communal  at  that  point,  proving  useful  whenever  the  four  marauders  needed  a  bit  of  numbing.  Remus  rarely  used  it        so  he  figured  it  was  time  to  pay  it  forward.      ❛     I  always  thought  people  were  being  dramatic,  but  I’m  starting  to  think  they’re  right.  You  really  are  a  damn  angel.  Hand  to  God,  Edgar,  I  will  eat  the  whole  kitchen  if  i  have  to.    ❜     Letting  his  feet  further  drag  him  to  the  kitchens,  he  motioned  for  the  boy  to  follow.      ❛     I  wish  we  could  turn  down  the  sun,    ❜     he  mumbled  under  his  breath  before  turning  a  corner.      

               “ even better. no need to worry about waking someone who was otherwise planning on sleeping until one, then, if you’ve got your own supply, “  edgar said with a sage nod of his head.  he stuck his hands in his pockets and cocked his head towards the ground as the two of them continued on their way towards the destination, considering for a moment.  “ sleeping until one doesn’t sound bad, honestly. I’d just rather get rid of any unsettled feelings now, you know, get that out of the way. eat and drink now, nap later. ”  he glanced back at remus with a crooked grin making its way across his  ( still tired )  face.  “ c’mon, now, it’ll rain for days now that you’ve told the sun you’re not in the mood! maybe you’ll feel a little kinder towards it once you’ve eaten the whole kitchen. “

         “ I wasn’t aware I had a secret admirer in the first place? so this is the first I’m hearing of any of this. “

             “ I don’t think it’s an act. it’s not like I was born perfect, but I do try my best to be a good guy and a nice person. I don’t always feel like I succeed, but my feelings aren’t really the point. “

              “ I hate this game! I always feel so mean. but if I have to play, then I think I’d say I’ll fuck alice, since we’ve already been together so it’s a little less disrespectful to the other two, and then marry daisy because I feel like she’d be less bothered by me in the long run than hannah, and finally, kiss hannah, because I can’t bring myself to kill anyone. “

              “ I don’t know if I’d call myself a fan of it, but I’m not opposed to it, either? I’d personally rather have a no - strings hookup with a friend than with a stranger, and I think it could still be plenty casual if it’s what both parties want. “

                 “ so many things. a lot of things, actually  —  sometimes it’s hard not to get bogged down at the end of every day by the things I did that I wish I could take back, even just to change or do differently. “

        “right? i’m not really sure how to go about it, though — i’m not good at doing nothing, as it turns out. i hate not being good at things.” she pouted for a slight moment, before letting out a soft chuckle at his reaction to her accusations. “of course it can be strong and sweet, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s horrendous. it’s really bad, ed. you should know that.” she shivered, taking a sip of her dark, sugarless coffee. “you’re a horrible brother, honestly. you should be carrying around all sorts of things to satisfy my needs, didn’t you know? i suppose i’ll just eat a sugar cube, then, like an idiot.”

               " I have total faith that you could get good at anything with enough practice. clearly, you just need to spend a little more time doing nothing, “  edgar said with a wry tilt to his smile. as nice as he found doing nothing, he didn’t do it all that often himself; and while he’d never thought of it as being bad at it, maybe both bones siblings had that lack of talent in common.  “ horrendous is such a strong word! “  he shook his head, taking a sip of his own, admittedly overly - sweet coffee, his wry smile melting to something genuinely amused.  “ but, you’re right. look  ---  next time they let us loose in hogsmeade, I’ll pick you up some sugar quills. so even if something like this happens again you won’t have to feel so down. “

                Remus  Lupin  was  a  king  when  it  came  to  pain  relievers.  He  knew  them  well  and  he  took  them  often;  however,  they  normally  came  from  the  same  place        a  fear  of  dealing  with  the  agony  of  transforming.  He  had  never  suffered  through  a  hangover  before,  so  he  wasn’t  entirely  sure  how  to  fix  it.  For  once  the  genius  boy  didn’t  have  a  solution.     ❛     You  know  how  to  make  one     ?     ❜    He  asked  with  a  chuckle,  the  hope  obvious  as  he  waited  for  a  response.     ❛     Because  I  will  follow  you  to  the  ends  of  the  Earth,  I  swear.    ❜     People  were  right.  Edgar  Bones  really  was  the  nicest  guy  to  wander  around  the  halls  of  Hogwarts.

               edgar shrugged, shoving his hands in his pockets as he did so. “ we have this cousin with a bloody mary recipe she swears by, “  he admitted with a sheepish smile. to say he knew how to make it, exactly, wasn’t quite a stretch; he could remember a few family gatherings where he’d taken her instructions when she couldn’t lift her head off the kitchen counters.  “ so I’ve had to make that a few times. but honestly, it’s never done as much for me as a shit ton of breakfast food and coffee does. still  ---  if you know anyone who’d have vodka we could summon to the kitchens, I’d be willing to set you up with the bloody mary and still share whatever I end up shoveling into my mouth. “

        “ I’m sorry we’re not better friends, now. I can’t have been a great boyfriend, so I get why you my not want to be, but with everything going on right now I think it’d be nice if we could be. “

          “ I’m sorry I made you watch me eat that gone - bad chocolate. looking back I think maybe you really meant it when you said it wasn’t a challenge. “

        “ I’m sorry for  …  whatever decided backstory reason we decided you threw your drink at me. I’m sure backstory - edgar deserved it, but sadly that refreshing event occurred at the point in the night where my memories start getting a little hazy. “

    “but that would require effort, and today i’m very focused on not doing anything.” which was unlike her — amelia was always moving, always scribbling essays or practicing charms. she’d planned this, though, had marked this day in her planner as free. it was quite relieving, in all honesty. “and how dare you suggest i drink coffee with sugar! i drink it black and as strong as possible exclusively, as sugar in coffee is a …. a blasphemy. i’ll just try and find my sugar fix elsewhere. do you happen to have any sweets, per chance? it’d be your duty as a brother to share them, you know.”

        “ a noble focus, “  edgar agreed with as sage a nod as he could manage. he crossed his arms in front of him as if he needed the extra shielding between him and amelia’s accusations against his coffee related, and shook his head  ---  like the movement did anything to hide from amelia his amused expression.  “ and it wasn’t blasphemy! I take sugar in my coffee, and I stand by my lifelong statement that it can be strong and have sugar.  and my suggestion to add sugar was, you know my effort to fulfill that brotherly duty to try and find alternate means to satisfy your sweet tooth. since I’m fresh out of anything else, sorry to say. “

                              ❛     that  remains  to  be  seen,    ❜     he  grumbled,  his  eyes  feeling  heavy  despite  having  slept  for  most  of  the  day.  note  to  self,  he  thought  bitterly,  never  touch  vodka  again.      ❛     i may  throw  up  later,     ❜      he  admitted,     ❛     but  in  a  cool  way.    ❜     it  was  then  that  he  smiled,  the  words  obviously  meant  as  a  joke  despite  the  very  real  possibility  that  he  would  be  upchucking  later.  rubbing  his  hand  on  the  base  of  his  neck,  his  gaze  wandered  around  their  surroundings.  maybe  he  took  it  for  granted          the  fact  that  it  was  practically  a  ghost  town.       ❛     what  about  you,  huh      ?    where  you  headed     ?     ❜    

                   edgar cocked his head and gave remus a worried once - over; it wasn’t that out of the ordinary to hear someone predicting that same fate for themselves on the weekends. especially after the night they’d all shared during the much needed hogsmeade trip, he was sure he’d be turning a blind ear to several fourth and fifth years bemoaning hangovers of their own. still  ---  on a normal weekends, the kind they’d been having cooped up, even, remus wasn’t exactly one of the usual suspects. he raised his brows and his arms in a joking shrug.  “ do you need some kind of hangover cure or something? “  he asked, though he kept his tone light. far be it from him to keep the other gryffindor from his very cool and suave vomiting.  " because I was actually on my way to the kitchens. I’d swear the younger years a making a racket at breakfast on purpose, but I can’t pass up my preferred cure of greasy foods and caffeine entirely. “

    —— “you know what the WORST thing is?,” amelia said, looking up from her book, a sigh leaving her lips. “it’s not this hangover, nor the gaps in my memory …” a somewhat guilty grin curled her lips, but only for a few seconds. she wasn’t proud of having gotten completely plastered at the party, but she’d had fun, for the first time in a while. “i lost my sugar quills at the hog’s head.” eyes fell back on her book for a second. “and i’m really craving something sweet.”

     edgar shook his head and lifted his mug to his mouth; easier to hide a small, teasing smile behind a sip of his highly caffeinated morning beverage as he parsed through amelia’s words. he didn’t doubt for a second that she mourned the sugar more than the memories. “ I’m sure some student drowning in dumb luck found them and would be willing to share if you hunted them down, “  he offered, looking at her over his mug.  “ but until then I guess you could just dump half the sugar bowl in your coffee and pretend that taste’s the same. “

                    remus  lupin  couldn’t  remember  the  last  time  he  slept  in  past  nine  o’clock.  his  body  simply  wouldn’t  let  him,  no  matter  the  drugs  he’d  taken  or  the  amount  of  sleep  he’d  had  the  night  before.  so  when  an  unattractive  groan  slipped  from  his  lips  at  11:37,  he  was  pretty  damn  shocked.  he  might’ve  even  been  a  little  disappointed  in  himself  if  he  hadn’t  been  so  hungover;  an  ailment  he’d  yet  to  suffer  through              &     the  boy  thought  he  was  immune.  hilarious.     &    what  else  what  hilarious    ?   the  fact  that  he  was  craving  greasy  foods.  he  was  five  seconds  from  frying  up  any  old  thing      &      just  going  for  the  damn  grease           hence  why  he  wandered  lazily  through  the  halls  toward  the  kitchen,  dark  sunglasses     &     all.  it  was  pretty  empty.  most  of  the  underclassmen  were  outside  while  the  upperclassmen  continued  to  recuperate,  so  he  figured  he  was  alone  up  until  he  turned  a  sharp  corner.     ❛     jesus     !     ❜     he shouted,  gripping  his  head  as  a groan  slipped  free.  there  he  went,  making  his  own  headache  worse. 

              “ woah! “  edgar’s exclamatation wasn’t at a decibel level quite on par with with the shout remus had let out, but he held his hands up at chest level, pulse racing a mile a minute as he took a startled step back from the other gryffindor. he’d taken an early walk away from the dorm room, unable to sleep in despite his best intentions ( something told him he’d end up taken an hours’ long nap a few hours into the afternoon anyway ) and hadn’t expected to meet any of his classmates on the walk back to the room; certainly not after the evening before.  he shoved an absent hand through his hair, letting out a matching groan.  “ I’m sorry, remus, I honest to god wasn’t expecting to run into anyone on the way the way back to the room this  ...  not even early, I guess. you alright? “
