So I read chapter 153, and with it, came Shinoa's little character development moment.

I honestly like where they're going with her now, considering everything that's happened previously with her, this was a nice change of pace.

Shinoa in this moment just wants to live with her friends, to grow old and die happy knowing she lived out her life the way she wanted to, without the pain or worry of her friends sacrificing themselves for the lives of people that have already died.

Everyone else is stuck in the past or scared/yearning for a future that may or may not come to pass. Meanwhile Shinoa is now fighting for the present, to focus on what she has now and not what she had before or what she could have in the future.

Shinoa reminds me of Mika in the early chapters, who just wants to run away and keep Yuu safe, which takes me to what I want to talk about: the confrontation between Shinoa and Yuu.

Yuu's behaviour in the last 50 or so chapters has fluctuated quite a lot, which I believe is primarily due to the changes in his environment and the people he is interacting with.

When Mika becomes a demon, Yuu is desperate to get him back; he's almost manic in a way. When he finally saves Mika, Yuu seems to settle down and return to his optimistic self, but I think the near loss of Mika was a turning point for Yuu in a way.

Before, his focus was on not only Mika but his friends as well, and while he did worry about Mika, Yuu was aware he could protect himself and never worried too much when Mika was in danger.

However, ever since Mika turned into a demon, it feels like Yuu has quickly become more and more obsessed with keeping him not only alive, but by Yuu's side. From refusing to resurrect humanity, devouring Asuramaru, defeating Sika Madu, killing Ferid, Guren and Mahiru, Yuu has basically been taking down any obstacle to Mika's safety.

And while Yuu speaks about resurrecting EVERYONE, not just humans, I don't think we can fully take his word for it. Because at the end of the day, what matters to Yuu isn't humanity, but his family. He's already chosen Mika once; there's no doubt that he'll choose him again.

I think the final decision will come down to whether or not Yuu will go forward with his plan to resurrect humanity, or if he'll choose to abandon it and just live his life with his friends.

I'm honestly hoping he'll choose the latter, but we'll have to wait and see where things go, because there's just one problem in Shinoa's plan that Yuu will not see eye to eye with, and that is Mika.

Shinoa hasn't mentioned Mika in a while, but considering her determination to get Yuu back, it's likely she's still resolved to kill him if he gets in the way of her plans.

The whole Yuu is actually Angel Mika and Mika is Homunculus Yuu can honestly make this situation better or worse, because if the soul swap-merge thing works the way I think it does, then it will be Yuu who pays the price (or both Yuu AND Mika, since their souls are connected).

Everyone else is working under the assumption that Mika is the key to the resurrections because he holds Angel Mika's soul, and we're not entirely sure how anyone might react were they to find out the truth.

If Shinoa were to discover this, or at least learn a part of it, this could either influence her to include Mika in her plans or further convince her to get rid of him.

This also brings me to who I believe will be the final antagonist we need to defeat, and that is Rígr Stafford/Saito. If Yuu is to abandon the plan to resurrect everyone, he will become Saito's enemy, and with how strong Saito is, Yuu and Mika won't be able to defeat him on their own.

My prediction (more like my hope lmao) is that Shinoa and Yuu will confront each other and hopefully get their feelings across (because as much as I love Shinoa, I don't think Yuu will ever have those kinds of feelings for her, and I need them to reach a conclusion with this) before either allying or Saito turning on Yuu resulting in Shinoa Squad and MikaYuu joining together to defeat him.

From the beginning, all Mika and Yuu wanted was to live their lives with their family, and that's all I really want for them. No defeating and/or becoming gods, no resurrections, no eternal punishment, just them and their found family being together.

To be honest, I don't think ONS will have a very happy or "all's well that ends well" kind of ending, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has to have a BAD ending, just one where even if we don't get a happily ever after, at least our main protagonists won't have to suffer anymore.

TL;DR Shinoa's finally set her own goal for herself to live happily with her family, and I think Yuu would honestly be on board with that plan, but his desire to also live with Mika will probably cause a problem with Shinoa's resolve to kill him if he prevents her from getting back Yuu.
