I’m really fascinated with the thought of moving to Derry, like in a metaphorical sense. if Derry & IT represent trauma and the dark places where it happens then people moving into Derry (like Ben) can be a metaphor for slipping into that dark place instead of being born into it like others were. I just really love the idea that depression or trauma is a town that you can go to, that seems normal from far away, you don’t really notice what it really is until you’re there and you’re looking closely. It can be a place that you’re born in, a home, where the only thing you know of the world is It, this tar pit of a town that hides itself under a mask that seems normal, and prays that you won’t look too closely at it so that you won’t see what’s wrong. But it can also be a place that you stumble into while trying to find somewhere better to be. your intentions can be completely pure, you can be a normal person with a normal life but if you’re not careful you end up Here. and then the only way out is to confront it, but it’s nearly impossible because Derry is like a wormhole feeding on itself, all it knows is It since the start and there is no way to confront that fact without overturning everything, because EVERYTHING is built on It and It’s hatred and long for violence. Which leads me to my next point, we need to destroy the American government
