bella swan is such a glorified character, like an entire pack of adolescent teen wolves, and a coven of blook thirsty vampires are devoted to protecting her because...? She's pretty? And in 2005, Jessica would've probably gotten more attention from people like Eric and Mike Newton. Yknow? She's blond, and the captain of the volleyball team. More conventionally attractive. Also multiple points throughout the series, Bella describes herself as "plain" or "ordinary", so i find this is one of my biggest issues with the series as a whole. Still love twilight tho.
