I like to imagine that after season 4 and especially after One Way or Another, Nancy makes the effort to get closer to Robin to the point they’re best friends (Robin is also still best friends with him). One night they’re talking and Nancy realises Robin’s comments about her mother aren’t jokes and that her mom really is awful to her. So despite the Wheeler house already being crowded, Nancy offers for Robin to stay over from time to time. Robin hesitates at first, knowing that Karen probably wouldn’t want another person taking up room in the house and knows they’re also not really anywhere she could sleep anyway.
Nancy however, says that Robin can sneak through her window at night, her mom wouldn’t have to know. And she could share the bed with her, it is a double after all. So Robin reluctantly accepts though doesn’t actually go over for a small while. That is until she had a particularly bad night with her mother and so that night, she sneaks out, climbs up to Nancy’s bedroom. She doesn’t do it very gracefully though, with it taking her longer than she thought to do. Nancy all the while, heard Robin outside and is simply watching her through the window. She hasn’t realised it yet but she has a major crush on Robin. But for now, she just thinks it’s normal feelings towards a close friend, similar to how she was with Barb. Robin eventually gets up and Nancy helps her inside.
Despite Robin insisting to sleep on the floor, Nancy convinced her to get into the bed and Robin lays there, back to Nancy and stiff as anything. She is sharing a bed with THE Nancy Wheeler after all and Robin had realised her crush on Nancy a while ago. Eventually she falls asleep and come morning, wakes up to find Nancy completely cuddling her. Robin stays frozen unsure of what to do, thinking Nancy must’ve accidentally gotten into this position in her sleep. Then Nancy wakes up and simply gets up like nothing had happened and Robin leaves through the window and goes home.
Sharing the bed then becomes a common occurrence between the two, eventually ending up with Robin sleeping in Nancy’s bed almost every night, unless Steve had asked her to stay over. Robin would even end up staying for breakfast most days, though Nancy would always make up some excuse as to why Robin was there. Karen of course knew from the first night Robin had stayed over. She’d heard her climbing up the side of the house but kept quiet because she’d realised Nancy’s crush on Robin long before Nancy even did. She reminded her of a younger version of herself. Plus she liked Robin, way better than Steve or Jonathan. Not that she didn’t like them, but she could see how much better Robin was for Nancy.
Over time, Nancy begins to realise her crush on Robin but didn’t want to say anything because she didn’t think Robin would like her that way, and she didn’t want to ruin what they already had. They both thought they were hopelessly in love with one another. Nancy was also still with Jonathan at this point, though their relationship wasn’t really anything more than a label at this point.
Then after season 5, with Nancy finally breaking up with Jonathan, and Holly saved, regular life begins to return. But knowing that they all could’ve died at any moment during the quarantine, Nancy finally realises it’s now or never to confess to Robin. She can’t face losing her.
So on one night in Nancy’s bed, she turns towards Robin, just as they’re getting ready to sleep. She attempts to explain her feelings but words just can’t comprehend what she’s feeling. So instead she reaches forward and kisses Robin. At first, Robin sits there stunned, her brain putting the pieces together of what’s just happened. And Nancy suddenly thinks she’s made a huge mistake and is apologising. But Robin then grabs her gently and pulls her close, kissing her again.
After that, they’re both even more joined at the hip, with them both even telling Karen at one point and she then reveals to them she may have known the whole time. Steve having been a witness to everything between the two, especially since he’s heard about Robin’s “hopeless” crush on Nancy, gives them both the biggest “ABOUT TIME” ever.
When they both go off to college, they know they’ll be long distance for a while, but still make it a point to see each other every weekend, with Nancy often taking the drive to see Robin since Robin still can’t drive yet. Nancy upon dropping out of Emerson, despite still working in Boston, opts to get an apartment closer to Robin, though still close enough that she can get to work feasibly. Robin eventually moves out of her college dorms and moves in with Nancy where they live together happily in love.
