There’s a reason this salt dough recipe is the first thing in my grimoire. Very few tools have been quite as versatile as this. I have made offering bowls, a measuring spoon, a deity statue, runes… and I could go on.

Salt dough is wonderful for witchery because you make it yourself, it’s cheap af, you can make it with things you steal from the kitchen while you’re stealing McCormack herbs (don’t lie, you know you’ve done it), and it’s salt based which is like the witchiest of witch things.

The small discs on the page are my latest idea, which is outlined in the second note on the page. I mixed dried herbs into the salt dough, formed discs, let it dry, and now I’ve got these portable little magic herb discs. The ones on the page are basil and powdered sugar for drawing wealth at work. But the possibilities are endless. If you can make an herb sachet or powder, you can probably also make it a salt dough disc.

this spell uses the elements of fire and water to banish and cleanse you of any anger that may be hurting you and transform it into emotional clarity and personal power. this spell is wonderful for this summer’s retrograde mars and is best performed under a dark or waning moon!

you’ll need:

✨ black (banishing) or white (cleansing and rebirth) candle

✨paper

✨pen

✨black pepper

✨a bowl of water

✨a bowl for burning

✨any other crystals or herbs you want to use (ex. clear quartz, obsidian or sage)

method:

1. begin by taking a moment to ground yourself and light your candle.

2. turn to the south and speak to the element of fire for a moment. ask for it’s aid in turning your anger to ashes, and that from those ashes may rise the ability to clearly voice your emotions and to stand up for yourself when you are hurt. 

2. turn to the west and do the same with water, asking to be cleansed and made new. think about how you respond to your emotions internally and the steps you take to take care of yourself when you feel a storm inside.

3. on a piece of paper, write down the angers you’re holding inside. when you’re ready, burn the paper and combine the ash with the black pepper. 

4. sitting upright and closing your eyes, meditate until you feel a sense of calm wash over you. you may choose to repeat a short mantra such as “peace and power” or visualize your anger dissolving. 

5. when you are ready, dispose of the black pepper and ash mixture however you see fit (i.e. flushing down the toilet, releasing into the air, etc.) 

I make it a point not to push my pegan beliefs on my children, I just do my thing, and allow them the freedom of choice because our home is very eclectic.

The other day my kids bring me a cup filled with crushed granite rocks. They were beautiful, and it actually made me think of fairy dust when looking at it.

My 5 yr old son says, “Mom we made you Magick.” He hands a me the cup filled with sparkling dust and runs off. I think, that’s real sweet of them.

Staring at the dust I start wondering, if Magick is mostly about intent, who is to say the dust isn’t Magick if that was what they were thinking when making it for me?

Calling one of my companions to check the cup of dust for Magick residue, he assures me it holds Magickal properties.
