What makes you ship Becho and not Bellarke? Just curious.
I think the relationship between Echo and Bellamy is extremely interesting, and they both benefit from it a lot. Echo is someone who has spent her life been stripped from her humanity, and never really had the chance to belong somewhere or have people to love. She was just a soldier among many, a weapon to dispose of anything that might be considered a problem. She was nothing but a tool. Bellamy came into her life and taught her (along the rest of Spacekru) what was life beyond what was taught to her as a tool. He gave her somewhere to belong, someone to be vulnerable to, made her feel true love and true reasons to live and so on. He allowed her to be human. On the other hand, Bellamy also benefits from being in this relationship with Echo. His relationship with her is so balanced and equal in the sense that she is as devoted to her, as he is to her. She always is on her side, even when she disagrees with him. She is extremely dedicated in making sure that he is safe, and puts a certain importance in having him preserve the relationship he has with the other prominent people in his life. They communicate, listen to each other, make compromises and plans with each other, and he as a person and what he wants are always priorities to her. While they were enemies before, and a lot of blood was shed at that point (which is completely understandable since they were people who barely knew each other in two complete opposite sides of a war), as soon as they truly became allies, and eventually fell in love, their relationship has been completely healthy. They are my two favorite characters from this series, and watching them mold as individuals, but also become this extremely dynamic unit, has been so wonderful to watch.
On the other hand, I don’t know a dynamic in fiction that I despise more than I do the one between Bellamy and Clarke, or a character I like less than Clarke. For starters, their relationship has been toxic every step of the way. They were supposedly close friends, yet time and again, one or the other disregarded the other, with most of the time, it being Clarke. Of course, initially they were begrudging allies at best, so them not prioritizing each other and what the other wanted wasn’t that noteworthy of a thing, yet the problem is that this tendency continued for the span of the show. Despite being Bellamy’s close friend, Clarke has kidnapped him, she shot at him, she chained him, she drugged him, she tazed him, she brutalized him, she considered killing him, she manipulated him over and over again, and left him to die. She did all of that despite supposedly being his close friend. Not only that but she put the people that he cares about in danger on numerous occasions because they were obstacles to whatever she was trying to do. Whether it be Octavia in Mount DC, or when she left her out of the bunker to die. There’s also Raven whom she sent off to be tortured once again. It doesn’t help that her actions led to the war continuing which resulted to Murphy getting shot, and her actions led to McCreary having the chance to destroy the world, which then gave Murphy and Harper no choice but to sacrifice themselves to save everyone. Whenever someone she supposedly cares about is in the way of her goal, she has no qualms in pushing them and what they care aside, and hurting these things in order to achieve whatever she wants. Look at how horribly she treated Raven (she’s practically just a tool for Clarke) overall. Look at how she abandoned Murphy in S3 (which led to his rape), chained him up and threatened to have the person he cared about most be put in the radiation chamber (she even insinuated that if Emori couldn’t produce the desire results, he would be next). Look at how she electrocuted her own child. Look at how she left Bellamy to die.
Not only that but there’s a clear power imbalance in their relationship, that Clarke has repeatedly taken advantage of to manipulate Bellamy. She doesn’t truly care about the problems in his life (especially with his sister) except when she wants him to do something in particular, and will pretend to care about whatever is going with him, and use that thing in order to push him into doing what she wants him to do. This relationship has the same problem as Bellamy’s relationship with Octavia. It being that it’s swarmed by toxicity. In order to preserve a relationship with either of them, he is forced to be loyal to them to the point of having him willing to die for either of them, despite them constantly treating him poorly. They don’t truly listen to Bellamy and instead only pay attention to the parts that are convenient to them. However, this dynamic between them, which relegates to Clarke being this ‘‘princess’‘, and Bellamy being her ‘‘knight’‘ which has been reinforced by the writers and romanticized by the fans is not healthy. Bellamy isn’t just there to follow everything Clarke says. He isn’t just there to validate every one of her actions even when her actions are putting the lives of the people he cares about in danger. He isn’t there to lay down his life for her despite how poorly she treats him. I do think Clarke cares about him to some extent, but it’s horrible seeing Bellamy dedicating so much to helping Clarke, and then Clarke time and again push him and the people he cares about aside to do whatever she thinks matters the most at the moment. It doesn’t help that the shippers often fetishize the idea of Bellamy being ‘’the brown knight’’. Not only do they only love Bellamy when he is relocated by the narrative as just that, but as i mentioned, they fetishize him and the trope, and many of them self-insert into the ‘’white princess’’ in order to live out their gross fetishistic (and abusive) fantasies. They love the idea of Bellamy instantly forgiving Clarke for every abusive thing she’s done (Becho is better in that respect because Bellamy was given the agency to hold Echo accountable for her actions and distrust her for years until eventually finding it in his heart to forgive and love her) in a way that undermines Bellamy and his perspective. Clarke has been abusing and manipulating Bellamy since early on, and again and again, I had to watch that abuse being swept to the side by both the story and the shippers, who cared more about fantasizing about this racialized abuse to really pay attention to how grossly abusive this relationship is. I honestly find this relationship absolutely disgusting, and there’s nothing the show could do at this point to make me remotely like it.
Considering none of them would be alive if it weren’t for Clarke and the only reason she had to “betray” them is because they sacrificed her CHILD and told Clarke she wasn’t part of the family anymore. Nobody is saying Clarke is innocent but they really have no right to give her this much shit when she’s the reason they didn’t die on earth and were able to go up to space and have a happy 6 years while Clarke was alone and suicidal
She’s the reason why they didn’t die on earth? I think you’re only looking at your show through your own bias because they all contributed in making sure they don’t die on earth. If I recall, correctly, Raven was the reason they even had the option to go into space because she flew the rocket and was the one who even pointed out that they needed to use the satellite tower in order to make it, Murphy was the one who carried that huge piece of machinery (oxygenator) that was necessary in order for them to survive in space and then saved Monty’s life, Monty was an instrumental part in their survival in space and also gave Bellamy the necessary instructions to hook up that oxygenator and Echo saved all of their lives by dealing with the men that attacked them. It’s almost as if they all played an important part in making it so that they survived. Just because she helped in making it so that they all made it out alive doesn’t give her a free pass to putting their lives in danger again and again and again especially when her intentions in climbing the tower wasn’t to sacrifice her live but to get rid of her guilt for the horrible things that she did, and in order to make sure that she would still be respected and veneered (and be in power) when they get to space.
Anyways, that being said, they really don’t owe her jackshit. Shaw and Raven got tortured because of her betrayal, Bellamy was left to die because of her betrayal, Murphy was shot because of her betrayal, Monty and Harper died in consequence of her betrayal and the entire world was blown up in consequence of her betrayal and then you expect them to not give her accountability for her actions. Also, Clarke has never been apart of their family. Not considering the way she mistreated Bellamy, Raven and Murphy. Plus, they only spend six months with her, with a lot of these where they were separated from her, whereas they spend six years along with each other. Of course they are going to consider each other family and only see her as a ‘’friend’’, and of course they won’t consider her a friend when their live was endangered because of mistakes she has made before that she is doing now. Also, they never were going to sacrifice Madi. Bellamy’s plan was to make Madi commander so that she could make a deal with Diyoza so that everyone could end up in the Valley without a war, and hundreds of casualties. However, because of Clarke’s betrayal, hundreds of people died and the world was destroyed. Not only that but she electrocuted Madi in order to force her to do something she didn’t want to do. So in conclusion, Clarke deserves every bit of criticism she is getting from Spacekru.
Bellarkers: Why don’t the Spacekru members hate each other for mistakes they’ve made a long time ago (mistakes they’ve worked hard to make sure they don’t commit again) when they hate on Clarke for the mistakes she just made (mistakes that she has made time and again all while never putting an effort in making sure that she doesn’t repeat them)?

It’s interesting to see how Bellarke stans are criticizing Echo defending Clarke because they see it as the writers trying their hardest to make fans like Echo, but we all know that if she did the contrary, they’ll be going on about how she should be the last person holding a grudge on Clarke for doing what she did. What they don’t understand is that the reason why Echo doesn’t hold a grudge on Clarke or Octavia is exactly because of the fact that she would be the last person to do so because after making the mistakes that she made, and after undergoing through a long process where it took years for some of the SIX people who lived with her to forgive her. Echo understands the idea of doing what you have to do for the side that you belong to. That’s why she understood why Clarke betrayed Spacekru to ensure that Madi was safe. Echo understands the idea of crossing over a line in order to ensure the prosperity of the side that you’re fighting in. That’s why she understood why Octavia did all of the horrible things she did in order to get the Shadow Valley. Of course, at the time, she was focused on ensuring that her own family was safe so Octavia’s and Clarke’s perspective weren’t the priority for her, but it makes sense for her to let go of any resentment for what they did after the battle was over. This isn’t a move to make her more likable, it’s just something that she would naturally do. Echo has become someone who sees forgiveness as an important thing to do because being forgiven was such a big part of her journey in the past six years. She has become someone who puts herself in the shoes of other people, even her enemies because spending time with Spacekru allowed her to get perspective of the whole Skaikru vs Grounder conflict that she never thought of, and now she realizes the importance of looking at all of the sides of the conflict. She sees herself from six years ago in Clarke and Octavia now, and that’s why she’s defending them and encouraging Bellamy to forgive these two.
Tell me I’m not seeing people shame Spacekru for criticizing Clarke and the decisions she made. People seriously need to stop trying to absolve her from blame for all of the horrible things she did. Due to the fact that Clarke betrayed them, Raven and Shaw ended up in McCreary’s hands, and they both ended up being tortured by him and his men. They have every right to be mad at the person who contributed to that happening. If it wasn’t for Clarke’s betrayal, the war between Onekru and the Eligius Prisoners that led to Murphy being shot could have been avoided. He has every right to be mad at her for that. In reason of Clarke’s betrayal, Bellamy was at risk of dying. He has every right to be mad at her for that. Also, because of Clarke’s betrayal, McCreary managed to get access to Shaw/Raven and therefore he was able to destroy the world (something that put everyone’s life in danger). Not only that, but the repercussion of this was Harper and Monty having no choice but to sacrifice themselves. This wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for Clarke’s betrayal. I don’t understand how Clarke is allowed to make decisions that put her ‘’friends’’ lives in danger, that lead to her ‘’friends’’ being tortured, that leads to some of her ‘’friends’’ having no choice but to sacrifice themselves and do things that even lead to the end of the world, and yet we still have viewers who are determined to act as if she did nothing wrong. Like, how are you going to act like Spacekru is remotely in the wrong for pointing out the fact that since a long time ago, she has made morally corrupt decisions that put everyone’s lives in danger, and yet, instead of taking a look at her actions and changing as a person in order to make sure that it doesn’t happen again, she makes the very same mistakes, and it’s everyone else that has to pay for it. So yeah, they have every right to criticize her.
People who criticize Echo by saying that she was an antagonist turned protagonist confuses me, because most of the major characters have turned into or were antagonists at one point in the story. Kane and Murphy were antagonists in Season 1, Bellamy and Jaha were quite antagonistic in Season 3, and many might say that Clarke and Octavia served as the actual antagonists in Season 5. Even other beloved characters have committed grave mistakes. There are so many cases where a character would commit a horrible act and the story would just move along and completely ignore their mistake as if these things never happened. This is a story that isn’t afraid of changing the status-quo so I’m quite confused at this refusal to acknowledge Echo’s valid transformation to a minor antagonist to a full-fledged protagonist. Her transformation is especially valid when we got a heart-felt scene with Bellamy at the end of Season 4 that started her shift, she still had to deal with the consequences and she will be haunted by her past in the next season. To add to that, the story still portrays her as having many (but not all) of the flaws she had before turning into a protagonist, isn’t afraid to pin her as being in the wrong, and has her actively trying to change herself to be an even better person.
Remember when the only person Murphy was close to instantly assumed he committed a crime he had nothing to do with, and punished him based on the little ‘’evidence’’ they had, while they didn’t want to lay a finger on the real perpetrator of Well’s murder. Imagine how betrayed he must have felt in that moment. I…he didn’t deserve that, he didn’t deserve that.
God making me the sole supporter of a ship knowing that I can’t edit for shit, am to lazy to write fanfics, and that I don’t have enough braincells to produce any quality content for it:

I know Charlotte was a mistake and a half, but the way Bellamy acted with her was the biggest Spacekru!Bellamy tease I have seen thus far. We’ve seen him be harsh, we’ve seen him be angry, and we’ve seen him be controlling, but that was the first time we got to have a long scene where he softens up and comforts someone. When I saw that scene for the first time, I knew there was another side to Bellamy waiting to be explored.
Looking back on everything that happened thus far, I think the show could have done a lot more with Wells. Clarke could have gotten a healthy friendship with someone, there are a load of pragmatic and logical characters so a more empathetic and compassionate person would have helped make balance things out, and it would have been interesting to see form an identity outside of the surface-level things we knew about thing, and develop as a character through out the different seasons. I know the show wanted to have a big shocking death to shake things up, but I don’t think it was smart to kill this major character off before he had the chance to do anything besides propping the main character’s arc up.
Bellamy went from a man controlled by his impulses and his emotions (even when it comes to moment where he needs to help these he loves) to a rational man who would do anything for his family while still thinking logically, and valuing his ethics. Y’all smell that character development?
I forgot how early ‘’The 100′’ romance consisted of characters interacting in around five scenes (with half of these scenes pretty much just being them bickering) and then getting together, and how that was presented as some epic love stories. The behavior this show is exhibiting is CW-like. The CW jumped out and then it jumped back in.
Seconds after knowing that teens had being sent to the ground, Raven figured out that they weren’t dying, and were actually just taking their wristbands off. Her mind...it’s too powerful. All the grown adults and their two collective brain cells in the ark are trembling. They just can’t compare to her genius.

Little did we know that when Bellamy said, ‘‘I’m getting that wristband, even if i have to cut off her hand to do it.’ that it was going to be one of the many many occasions where either he or Clarke would be fine with betraying and hurting the other in order to get what they wanted. They weren’t really friends at that point, but even down the line when they are actual allies, we see the same tendency again and again and again. Their relationship is literally this toxic vicious cycle of betrayal after betrayal.
Octavia squeaking like a mice while being dragged around the river by a sea creature sent me. I really did not appreciate that moment enough the first time I watched this show. I’m not saying it’s what she deserves but it’s what she deserves.
