Worked on my new year’s resolutions, but then decided I’d been going about it all wrong…Looking forward to a 2016 of self love
Soo since school is beginning again for many of us, I thought I would compile a masterpost of every self care method possible to ease your way back into things!Â
Stress and Anxiety Reduction
Declutter your space- Clear out all trash, make your bed, and make your desktop space clear. This will make for a cleaner head.Â
Put yourself in a happy place- Do yoga, take a power nap, whatever you need to put yourself in the most positive head space possibleÂ
Put your health first- To state the obvious, drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, and keep up with your personal hygiene. But this also counts for mental health. Put yourself first, your hobbies, your passions, and anything you do to keep yourself sane. Buy yourself nice treats as a reward after completing tough tasks, or reward yourself with anything you like doing.Â

PlanningÂ
Make a bullet journal- A bullet journal can really help you plan out your days/weeks/months to a T and help you stay organized. A lot of stress can be caused by a frantic and unknown schedule, and planning can ease a lot of that.
Take a moment out of your day to sit down and schedule everything out- Take time out of your day to write down what your day has in store. What times are you free? What times are you working, studying, eating, ect…? Make a list of everything your doing then translate that into a bullet journal, planner, or anything else you use to plan. Â

Have a very happy new year — literally.
New comic! (link)
Finding good mental health help is already really challenging when you’re in the best possible social position to access it. Poverty, disability, racial and cultural factors, physical access, regional access, gender and sexual prejudice, stigma, language… these are just a few of the roadblocks in the way of accessing effective mental health services.
There are a number of reasons why we should not shame people who do not engage with mental health professionals, the least of which is that a significant portion of people with mental illness are simply unable to access those services.
A core tenant of activism is the idea of autonomy and self determination - this means we must work to remove these barriers to treatment so that those who want to engage with a mental health support system are able to do so. While we should respect those who chose not to access those services, it is most important that everyone get that choice.

12 Ways To Say No Gracefully (Without Saying “Maybe Later”)
(Download a printable, poster-sized PDF version of this graphic here.)
Remember: You don’t have to justify your no. Resist the temptation to explain why it’s not a good fit, why you feel stomach-churny, or why you need to build more trust. Avoid making excuses. When you state what’s true about your experience, it’s harder to argue with you. You get to have boundaries. “No” is a complete sentence. When you say what you do want instead, it gives you both something to work from (if you want that.)
Hear Demi Lovato's story of living with bipolar disorder, and start speaking up about mental health conditions. Be Vocal provides guidance for mental health advocacy and how to advocate for yourself.
Approximately 44 million adults – 1 in 5 Americans – are diagnosed with a mental health condition in any given year. It’s time we supported those individuals and the community. Join me in speaking up for mental health.
