Guts, no glory

“Yeah.. alright then. Guess it’s gonna be like that. If this is what you want..”

Guts had been a veteran of facing monumental tasks. Not just in his own world, but in this one as well. He had been stuck here for years, somehow finding freedom at some point, completely unbeknownst to him. Only to find himself suddenly back into this god forsaken prison. He hadn’t minded it at first. Back when he wasn’t alone. When there was someone he would have gladly risked staying here forever for. But she wasn’t here now. And that made dealing with events such as this far less tolerable.

Humans suddenly gaining supernatural abilities. Others, who already had abilities, clashing with them in an effort to survive. They were being hunted, they had no choice but to clash with them. But this time, it wasn’t just them. Now, anyone who wasn’t from this world originally was also a target. Regardless of being human or not. This only made the chaos spread even faster. Fighting among various factions, races and such. It was almost impossible to tell who was who. And worst of all, these problems had given some an excuse to come out of hiding. Beyond the human NPCs, there were the monsters who lurked in parts unknown, now rushing into the carnage. 

Pariahs, werewolves, man eating plants, ghouls. Monsters of all sorts, some native to the worlds of those who were forcefully brought here. But none seemed to be as big of a threat as these. They had appeared in the city before, though far smaller in number. But now.. Now they came as a horde. A hungry, bloodthirsty horde.

Guts had been in one of his more volatile moods ever since arriving in the city. What’s more, with all of the violence occuring around him, he had been kept on edge in case someone sought to start something with him. Which, given his absurdly horribe luck, seemed like an inevitability. Which was why, upon feeling the presence of another behind him, he turned around swiftly and aimed his massive blade towards their face. A mostly empty threat, now that he felt no malice from the individual.
