Many years ago I watched Jeepers Creepers at the theaters and thought it was the scariest film I have ever seen. When I came home I told my father about it. He told me this “it’s the scariest film now. Years from now there will be something scarier.” I then asked him why. He said this “when I was younger the scariest film I ever saw was Halloween.” I told him that Halloween wasn’t scary at all and then he dropped this bomb on me. “It wasn’t the fact that this man was unkillable, or inhumanly strong. It was that mask. That blank expressionless mask. You never know if he actually enjoyed what he was doing or if he was angry, sad, or confused. You just know that he won’t stop until you are dead. That mask is blank and expressionless so that you can imagine what is killing you. That’s the scary thing about Michael Myers, that mask psychologically breaks you before he gets his hands on you.
