One thing really superb throughout Arcane is that Jayce & Viktor start the series with a similar amount of black/grey/white on their outfits but as the season goes on Jayce becomes more and more covered in white while Viktor adds black pieces to himself (including his limbs, which he hides) which makes for a clean, subtle, and really effective way of showing contrast between their characters – even Viktor’s vest is eventually grayer in tone while Jayce’s shirt gains white sleeves and he wears white kneepads.

Depending on the scene, different parts of their outfits are emphasized, to really dig in the framing. They’re equals with complimentary traits; started at the same uniform, but with different tie colors; Viktor eventually takes on Jayce’s tie, his crutch is emblazoned with the colors of house Talis (red, gold, Jayce is shown working on a similar design at the forge) The white of Viktor’s tie transfers to the brightness of Jayce’s coat, now fitting for the Man of Progress, while Viktor recedes further into the shadows.

And something else that’s really sweet is that when they have their heart-to-heart during act 3…
