The fact that Fiyero pursues Glinda, despite meeting Elphaba first and being genuinely intrigued by her. That fact that he continues to flirt and court Glinda, despite an attraction for Elphie even he clearly recognizes. That he allows her to leave for Emerald City that day without saying what he feels, even though it is practically bleeding out of every pore in his body. That he just lets Glinda unilaterally decide their future, regardless of what he actually wants or feels about the matter. That he's "always happy." (Until he actually sees Elphie again.)
Says all you need to know about what Fiyero thinks of himself and what he deserves:
That he's thinks he's all about the easy, stress-free life
That he claims he doesn't "do hard work" because he just "doesn't care" enough for anything to put in any effort
That he doesn't let himself choose things for himself, if he can help it
That doing so will only make something too precious and therefore harder to lose
That he doesn't let himself choose things he is not willing and ready to lose
That he doesn't believe he deserves precious things
That he actually cares too much about everything, probably, but that way only causes pain
That if you keep pretending not to care, then maybe no one will take that precious thing away from you
That he's probably lost too much he's cared about in the past
And then when he joins the Captain of the Guards to find her first?? And protect her?? And then when he sees her again????? And realizes oh, actually, it was already far too late I already cared too much when I met you let me just leave literally everything I've ever pretended to be or want and give it all up for you????????
