          she  wasn't  sure  what  time  it'd  been  –  not  that  it  mattered  in  all  honesty,  even  if  it  were  one  in  the  afternoon  that'd  still  be  too  early  for  her.  an  incredibly  late  night  spent  at  selva  had  been  to  blame  and  herself  of  course,  not  that  she  would  admit  to  such  a  thing  as  fault.  when  an  all  too  familiar  and  cheerful  voice  broke  through  the  silence,  a  small  groan  emitted  from  her  throat,  attempting  to  shut  her  eyes  even  tighter.  "  noooo,  bed  and  sleep,  please.  "  it  would  be  to  no  avail,  as  lorraine  ignored  her  request  by  hopping  right  onto  the  bed,  almost  akin  to  how  she  had  once  upon  a  time  to  her  parents  on  christmas  morning.  defeated  sigh  breathing  out,  the  bribery  in  treats  did  help  a  bit,  one  eye  managing  to  open  up.  she  had  to  hold  back  rolling  them  at  the  woman's  antics,  but  played  along  for  a  moment.  "mhm  —  you  don't  see  him  right  there,  "  motioning  to  felix,  her  maine  coon,  who'd  made  himself  comfortable  on  the  pillow  beside  hers.  "  although  he  doesn't  bring  me  champagne just demands for food  so,  i'd  say  you're  title  is  safe,  for  the  time  being.  "

                     a  bubbly  laugh  left  pink  colored  lips.  “  traitor.  “  she  mused  with  a  faux  pout,  before  shaking  the  bed  slightly.  “  and  here  i  thought  there  would  be  more  RESPECT  for  his  fairy  godmum.  “  she  teased  the  cat,  before  tapping  her  lap  in  an  attempt  to  coax  him  to  her.  “  no  worries,  he’ll  remember  who  lets  him  sneak  cat  nip,  when  mum  says  no.  “  she  declared  as  she  propped  herself  up  on  the  bed,  head  resting  on  her  shoulders  as  her  feet  kicked  up  into  the  air.  “  that  promise  of  food  won’t  last  FOREVER  you  know,  i’ve  had  offers  ⸺  who’s  to  say  you  won’t  be  the  one  that  must  compete  for  my  attention  some  day  in  the  future  hmm?  “  reaching  for  the  brunette’s  arm  she  pulled  lightly.  ‘  up,  up,  up  ‘  she  mused  like  a  child  excited  to  run  down  stairs  to  see  what  santa  had  brought.  “  come  on,  i  brought  your  favorite.  “

a  laugh  —  a  chuckle  —  eases  past  parted  lips  ,  an  airiness  coloring  the  expression  when  keon  wraps  his  fingers  around  the  handle  of  a  glass  he  once  offered  &  has  now  been  decidedly  returned  .  sweat  already  beading  on  the  outside  frame  ,  droplets  forming  a  ring  on  the  wooden  counter  before  he's  lifting  the  glass  &  marrying  the  rim  to  his  mouth  .  he  takes  a  swig  .  doesn't  bat  an  eye  at  the  taste  of  ginger  &  vodka  ,  offended  on  the  moscow  mule's  behalf  when  he  elongates  his  neck  ,  presents  his  adam's  apple  ,  and  sips  the  drink  again  .  making  a  show  of  it  ,  as  he  always  does  ,  because  he  finds  it  amusing  whenever  the  other  watches  .  〝  you'd  achieve  better  results  if  you  shouted  ‘  cuff  me  ’  ,  darling  ,  seeing  as  that's  what  you  think  i've  done  to  get  you  here  ,  〞  he  says  once  setting  the  glass  back  down  ,  quick  to  flag  the  bartender  in  their  direction  so  he  can  procure  the  merlot  lorraine  predictably  wants  ,  〝  in  actuality  though  ,  dear  rory  ,  i  haven't  cuffed  you  .  it's  you  who's  cuffed  your  own  enjoyment  ,  〞  and  then  he  dawns  a  smile  when  the  bartender  approaches  ,  easing  his  body  weight  onto  the  counter  as  he  flirts  the  idea  ,  〝  merlot  ,  please  .  aged  &  beautifully  fine  ,  〞  a  wink  catching  his  eye  ,  the  bartender  humoring  him  with  one  in  return  before  they're  turning  around  to  reach  for  the  red  wine  .

                   the  much  coveted  glass  of  red  was  placed  in  front  of  her  almost  instantly  and  a  pointed  glare  formed  on  the  blonde’s  features  if  ‘  looks  could  kill  ‘  the  man  would  have  dropped  about  a  minute  into  the  FIRST  time  they  met.  manicured  fingers  closed  into  a  tight  fist  as  her  lije  of  sight  followed  the  ‘  flattered  ‘  bartender  agree  to  the  request  made,  an  action  that  made  her  settle  in  her  seat.  “  oh  did  you  not?  must  have  confused  my  recurring  nightmare  for  reality  then.  “  she  mused  with  a  tilt  of  her  chin.  now  lorraine,  was  more  than  OPEN  to  ‘  fun  ‘  but  ‘  reckless  abandon  ‘  only  worked  when  controlled.  the  sort  of  spontaneous  that  allowed  her  to  predict  the  outcome,  that’s  where  the  heiress  lived  ⸺  and  she  was  quite  comfortable  in  that  reality,  usually.  “  but  do  tell  me  dearest  buffoon  when  you  talk  do  you  actually  hear  it  or  is  it  just  a  ROARING  in  your  ears?  “  her  tone  was  light,  meant  to  tease  but  her  features  expressed  seriousness,  call  it  a  determined  resistance  against  admitting  she  was  partially  enjoying  herself.  finally  she  reached  for  the  glass,  fingers  gracefully  wrapping  themselves  around  the  slender  stem  of  her  wine  glass,  which  was  lifted  towards  her  lips,  a  small  sip  taken  before  she  ser  it  down.  “  just  curious.  “
