Become Better

So. . . Immna need a minute to adjust to the fact that there are not now, nor will there ever be, a new book by Sir Terry Pratchett. Not for me, at least. I’ve finished listening to THE SHEPHERD’S CROWN and I’m feeling the weight of a world that no longer has a certain character in it, and the even larger weight of my world without new Terry Pratchett books in it. That man was a wonder. He spun tales that encompassed the strange, the funny, the strangely funny, and the awe-filled world that is right outside our windows. I’ve never closed a Terry Pratchett book without smiling through tears at the wonder and joy I’d been shown. If you’ve never read any of Sir Terry’s books, I cannot strongly enough urge you to go out and get one now. Each and every one of his books is filled with the best of humanity and always left me with the urge to live better and to BE better than I had been. He was aspirational, as both a writer and a person. He saw the world as it was, transformed it into the world he wanted to see, and made all his readers want to toil alongside him to create that better world. It’s been a little more than seven years since he died from early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease and, really, these days, the world could use his anger and his humor and his need to see the world and all the people in it become more and better than they used to be. Thank you, Sir Terry. You are so dearly missed.

When you decide today’s the day to wear the butt plug because there’s not that much work to do. And suddenly you’ve never been more busy.
