Spoiled by pretty privilege and old money privilege, fuelled by a deep craving for violence — it wouldn’t be difficult to make the “disgraced army colonel” background work for him that way. Apart from that, pairing a character like that with Jim (and having him give up his privileged position to work FOR him), is so much fun to think about. It’s such an interesting take on him.
