regardless of format (png, jpeg, psd, etc.), i always upload the template into ibis paint x (mobile app) and use the bucket tool to fill in the colors. if layers of the flag are posted individually, i upload each layer into the same project, starting with the outermost stripe. then i add an extra blank layer and use the paint brush tool on the biggest setting to fill the layer in with one color. then i clip the color layer to the stripe layer and repeat for each stripe layer.

some coiners provide their templates for their flags in psd format, which means you can open it in photoshop or photopea (free online alternative to photoshop) and have access to all the layers automatically. then you can use the color fill option (i can’t remember if it automatically creates a layer on top with the color or if it color fills whatever layer is selected, so i’d probably add another blank layer on top before doing it, just to be safe) to fill a layer with color. clip it to the stripe layer and repeat like you would in ibis paint x!

please note that photopea works best on pc, while ibis paint x works best on mobile, so choose whichever option works best for you! if you need a tutorial with images for either method, please lmk! we’re happy to help :3
