*stupid little footnotes: i'm trying out some colors. idk. i think it's cool. more organized. lmk if you guys like or dislike it
quick question:
do you guys prefer minimalist altars or over crowded ones?
i just saw a video on youtube from a witch who's altar was very minimal, tidy, expensive looking (they had around 3/4 of those statues of the Gods that cost like $80 each and also a huge deer skull), and overall aesthetically pleasing altar.
it made me kind of insecure about mine because i don't have the money for all those things, and also, my altar contains all the stuff i use the most, not only devotional / worship related things.
feel free to reblog this with pictures of your altars! i'd love to take a look ^^
its more important to ask this question of yourself:
what means more to you?
If clutter and knicknacks and memories, dozens of candles, ticket stubs, and candy are what make your altar feel alive, thats the right answer.
If one single statue of a god on a white linen tablecloth is what makes your heart sing, that’s the answer.
the gods don’t live in cold slabs of stone, they live in your heart. The altar is just a focal point to make it easier to focus on them during worship. An altar can be a shoe box or a piece of paper. You are your own altar to the gods every time you pray to them.
White witches stop "smudging" challenge year almost 2023.
Babes: call it Censing. Call it Saging. Stop calling it Smudging.
I know y’all can do better we can all stand to do better.
UNLESS YOU ARE INDIGENOUS YOU ARE NOT SMUDGING. Censing (Latin), Rēcaning (Saxon), Saining (Scottish), Thymiaein (Greek), Kyphi (Kemetic/Egyptian), Takpirtu (Mesopotamian), Hallowing (Old English) -- there are so many options. A detailed breakdown of these smoke related cleansing rituals can be found here.
Reblogging for these wonderful alternatives!!!

HOW TO ENCHANT
Enchantments are used widely by witches and practitioners in the community for many different reasons. It can be super helpful within your craft, as enchantments are basically portable spells that you wear or items around your home made magical for a specific purpose
Why: Enchanted items can act like a spell that you wear or carry. It can look like a simple necklace or a ring or earrings, a rock you found in the garden, pretty much anything you want. They help bring about a magical intention. (This can also be done with larger objects around the home, but i suggest the third or fourth method below for that) It itself becomes imbued with magic, your power, and intention to bring about your chosen action.
How: There are a few methods to choose from that are listed below. Some methods may not work well for most people so I made sure to include a handful of different methods to choose from.
The first method is putting herbs that match your intention into a bowl of water with a candle in the middle. Place your jewelry or item you wish to enchant in the water, and speak your intention over the bowl. Light the candle and let your small item sit for as long as you feel is necessary.
The second method is to use energy and your own intention to activate it. Just hold it in your hands and focus, meditate with it and put energy that matches your intention into the item you're holding. You can also use elemental energy for this as well. Visualize yourself holding a piece of earth to create a grounding effect. A ball of fire for passion or love or energy. Water for intuition, psychic abilities, peace, etc. Air for mental agility, communication, freedom, etc. This also works for larger items as well, just direct your energy instead of palming it.
The third is to write a petition down on paper, what you want the enchantment to be, any limits you want it to have, anything you want it to achieve, and even how you wish it to recharge and cleanse itself if you desire it. Fold the paper a couple times (works best if its longer than it is wide), Burn the paper and bathe the piece of jewelry or the item in the smoke. Put out the smoldering paper in some water or snuff it out. it doesn't have to burn to completion.
You can also dip the item in oils that match your intention, or anoint larger objects with the oil of your choice.
There's no special trick to it and every witch does it differently. Do whatever method works best for you in your practice.
Witches Gunpowder
(to boost any spell's speed and efficiency)
Salt cayenne paprika chili powder black salt coffee grounds clove powder dragons blood
Your end result powder should be dark in color.
Use this for when you need to give extra speed, oomph, or power to a spell, but be careful, a little goes a long way. Add too much to a spell and it can prematurely burn out (like a caffeine crash) or just become erratic and not do what it's intended (like overdosing on caffeine).
TL;DR - don't overdose your spell on caffeine.
listen, when i go to open my mouth & what comes out is 12 degrees of seperation from what the original topic was, u need to connect the dots bitch. think fast. i’m not gonna hold ur hand but we’re leaving now and visiting every topic along the line. wave it goodbye, don’t get hung up on it

CPD just killed a fifteen year old child.
a fifteen year old black girl was shot four times in the chest by columbus police in columbus, ohio.
as derek chauvin was found guilty, a black child lost her life to police.
we still don’t know her name, but we’ll scream it the minute we do.
“well that can’t be worse”
except it is.
except this child got jumped by the other girls present. she was afraid for her life enough to grab a knife and call the cops herself.
let me repeat that.
the black child that they killed was so afraid she called the cops herself.
they killed the very person who asked for their help.
and before you flip over the knife, they didn’t even ask her to disarm. they got out and immediately opened fire on her and shot her four times with deadly intent.
did y’all think i was kidding.
COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police said one person was killed in an officer-involved shooting on the east side of the city Tuesday afternoon.
her name is ma’khia bryant.
i’m such a small blog but i’m begging y’all to spread this story. i can’t speak directly to this- no matter how hurt and angry and thrown by all of this i am, my voice isn’t the one that matters. i recognize that. but i’m still begging for this to not be overlooked. say her name, remember her- remember that this fight never ended, and keep fighting it.
derek chauvin being found guilty is a victory, but we can’t let that blind us to the fact that this has kept happening and never actually stopped. even if the protests went quiet, that doesn’t mean things changed. we have to hold them accountable and we have to remember those who have died and will continue to die beneath the shadow of everything else that’s happened this year.
my heart is going out to her family.
rest in peace, ma’khia.
