Some project uses Base station/tower to detect how many people are using mobile phone in this area so that they know generally how many people are there.

Today, we had the “design with data” public show at the informatics forum. It was really successful. Both 7 projects had the meaningful and unique stories. It was really interesting. We explained our project to people and listened what they thought and received some useful feedbacks.

The mainly feedbacks are as follows:

1. it’s quite fun but a bit unfair that the Calton Hill is scaled bigger than the rest by default - we can connect them with weather of the day (animate them maybe)

2.the exposed electronics a bit of curious but maybe also distracting- what are the books for? Are they connected to the twitter/building

3.The poster too far back, I see the projection first rather than the poster, I didn’t know there is poster about the project

4.The data is history data, it would be great that it is real-time.

5.”Shadows”  makes me a bit of confused, in the common sense, shadow is black. What I see is colorful. It should be another word? Maybe “Projection”?

We use twitter api to gain 7 days of twit data about people's comments on selected landmarks. Then analyse the data into a ranking of landmark popularity.

we are building our system as pic 2 shows on a table there are 3 sliders. Each slider hold a landmark model. 3 Arduino control the movement of the slider together with motors and power supply. A master Arduino control other 3 Arduino like pic 1 shows. A light resource project light onto the models and shadows of the models will appear on the screen. yes we need to build up a space with screen.
