Itty bitty baby Ginko Biloba sapling I started from seed about 18 months ago graduated into a bonsai training pot today mostly because I cannot focus on anything else and even though it had plenty of room in the 4β pot it had it was still in its peat moss seed starting media still and having some real soil will be good for it (helloooo nutrients!)
I was really shocked at how tiny itβs roots are for something thatβs had significant growing time at this rate, especially compared to the canopy. Iβm not sure if this is typical of Ginko or a product of not having very good soil so far, but it seems healthy and happy overall anyway. Theyβre tough trees.

I also suspect the seed wasnβt very good. It was one of 5 I started and the only one to germinate, when theyβre easy enough that if they were sent to me healthy they should have all gone no problem. But hereβs the one! I have other bonsai experiments going outside (with mixed results, all looking particularly haggard rn or maybe dead idk yet because of some terrible heatwaves) so no pictures of those, but this little one is so young and tiny it lives inside in my kitchen greenhouse window where I can keep a very close eye on it.
I decided to take the time to clean up the window just a little so yβall can see I uh.
Like plants. And have a few.
