Why does everyone think fiction is just fantasy wish fulfillment now and not like an exploration of themes and ideas

People will be like “this movie is evil and gross because it depicts a predatory relationship” and then you watch the movie in question and it’s about how preying on young women is bad and impacts their lives negatively

“Why would they do this instead of just making everyone in the movie nice and normal and good” so we would have this conversation….

I love when an artist does something as a joke but then obviously thinks about it until they trick themselves into being into it. like haha I drew them in the green alien au where they're both green aliens who say gleepblorp [three days later] I drew another green alien picture

with the topic of hyperfixation, it does not mean you really like something, it means you are OBSESSED with something to the point you are glued to it. i get so hyperfixated on art and drawing that I forget to eat and piss. it's a struggle.
